dtthorne 0 #1 December 8, 2004 Hello All! Really looking forward to the boogie!!! So, how many jumps could a jumper jump if a jumper jumped a lot? I wanted that to come off like "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck" but I don't know if it worked? Anyhow, from all of your experiences, what is a reasonable expectation for the number of jumps one could make during the boogie? I have alloted for 10 jumps for each of the 10 days I'll be there. Is that reasonable?
jose 0 #2 December 8, 2004 Sure its reasonable. I have done 10 jumps days there several times. Several things will help. Good sleep the night before. Eat breakfast..so that means get up early. Have food and drink planned out for the day. Be on the first load. Manifest for your next jump as soon as you get back down before packing. Make sure you can make your next load. Pack like a motherf@$^er. Be committed. Now if you have 2 rigs and a packer...its easy. Buddie of mine won the 1st FF festival there years back and won a free day of jumping. He used 2 rigs and made 23 jumps. He was beat to shit at the end of the day. And last but not least, know your limits. Dont keep jumpin just because there is light if you are trashed. Many a day that I got maxed out and knew that I wouldnt be gettin much out of the rest of the day. So I just started drinkin early.
AggieDave 6 #3 December 8, 2004 Hell, seeing how last holiday boogie I was at, they averages over 100loads per day...You could possibly make 20+ jumps a day if you had multipul rigs and a dedicated packer and you didn't party your ass off all night. Anymore, though, when I go to a boogie, I only do about 4-5 jumps a day, that way its a nice slow pace, I'm hanging out a lot, getting on some good jumps, picking and choosing what jumps I want to be on, etc. That also leave me room to party as much as I want at night, wake up at noon and still make my desired number of jumps. Unless of course the boogie is at my home DZ then I'm doing on average of 10 tandems plus fun jumps a day at the boogie.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." diablopilot 2 #4 December 8, 2004 I've done as many as 54 in 5 days in Eloy.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
dtthorne 0 #5 December 9, 2004 Thanks for replying. This will be my first boogie and I am extremely excited. I will also be bringing multiple rigs to take maximum advantage of the opportunity to learn a bunch, have some fun and make some great skydives! See you all down there!! mouth 0 #6 December 9, 2004 I generally plan on about 6-8 a day there. If you are jumping with a group you have to wait on people to pace anyway and then debrief and dirtdive. I figure I'd rather do a few less jumps and learn something from each jump...just my .02. See ya there. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. Zenister 0 #7 December 9, 2004 during 'normal' weekend operations i've made as many as 11 with a single rig.. I've seen several people (not training even) make 18+ (Trevor is the man) however during the first holiday boogie things were kind of backed up so 4-6 is much more reasonable as the loads fill up VERY fast and double manifesting isnt really encouraged...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. SkymonkeyONE 4 #8 December 9, 2004 I am pretty sure both Alexmac and Trevor made like 124 jumps there three years ago during the boogie.
diablopilot 2 #9 December 9, 2004 Quotehowever during the first holiday boogie things were kind of backed up so 4-6 I didn't find it so, but that was when it was the "Eloy Holiday Boogie", not the DZ.com Holiday Boogie. It's been going on for a little while longer than DZ.com.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. ianmdrennan 2 #10 December 9, 2004 Last year during the dz.com boogie (holiday boogie) my wife and I each did 58 or so in 7 days. Bad weather slowed us down a bit, but if you can keep up with the packing (after about day 4 it starts getting a bit much) you should be able to do around 8-10 a day. I dont think you could get much more than that because of waiting for loads....at least that's how it was last year. Zenister 0 #11 December 9, 2004 well see i'm spoiled i'm used to being able to walk up to manifest and get on a <15 min call... during the boogie it was more like 30min to an hour unless you were just filling in 1s and 2s... but then having that many different people to jump with sort of compensates for the additional wait...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. AggieDave 6 #12 December 9, 2004 Sure, but Trevor isn't human. Didn't he also make EVERY load at couch freaks a few years ago as well?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
SkymonkeyONE 4 #13 December 9, 2004 Actually, that was Richmond. He was on every load.
