GiaKrembs 0 #1 December 8, 2004 Our Co. Holiday Party is this Friday at the Biltmore in Montecito.... the party is very boring and uptight so a group of us have rented a limo to go partying in Santa Barbara after the formalities. Anyone have any good recommendations on the "hot spots" in Santa Barabara???? ciao, g Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it. lawrocket 3 #2 December 8, 2004 I don't know if they are still hot. SB hasn't been my stomping grounds since 1996. But: The biltmore is somewhat of a boring place, unless, like me, you like fine alcohol and relaxation in a pretty mild setting. Montecito has Coast Village Road, which is a cute little shopping area and place where the wealthy locals hang out. They've got a couple of good restaurants, too. try Eladio's if it is still there. Still, the place to be is state Street. Plenty of bar hopping and restaurants and partying, dancing, etc. It's a whole lotta fun down there. Stick more to Lower State. You can go from one place to another rather easily. Pub crawling is highly recommended. Note: Steer clear of Haley Street. Anyone passing through there at night should go immediately to a clinic for a series of shots. If you see hot chicks down there, they're all dudes - transvestite prostitutes. Anyone else whose a cute chick there will be an undercover cop. Don't waste your time going to Isla Vista. It's dead this time of year. A week ago, you could have had a blast, but with dead week and finals, it just isn't the same. So, stay away. For your Morning brekfast, State Street has nice places (I like Esau's for a nice pancake breakfast). Also, try out Stearn's Wharf. My wife is hotter than your wife. surfers98 0 #6 December 9, 2004 There are a ton of fun places on State street to party. The SB Brewing Co is pretty chill and has great beer. Club 634 is a relatively big club type of bar that's probably your best bet for a big group. It's a mixed crowd age-wise due to the blend of hip-hop, trance, R&B, and rock. Prodigy is a small kind-of upscale place with good house and trance music, great martinis, and good dancing. For a chill, upscale, small and funky martini bar, check out Indochine. Check out Mel's, a diner looking place on State that gets packed with a trendy clientele in search of the strongest free-pours in history. If you're looking for an Irish Pub, check out the James Joyce. Those are my best suggestions for now. I agree with the suggestion not to go to Isla Vista. It's where UCSB is and would be dead this time of year. Lastly, Santa Barbara has undergone a major change for the better over the last decade and is now very safe and very clean. No, I'm not the mayor... In fact, I don't even live there, but I do spend a great deal of time up there. PS - Just make sure you watch out for the cops there. They're a bunch of fucking nazis...
