Frodo 0 #1 December 7, 2004 d'you know any nice/familiar and relatively easy to learn songs? i mean solos, rather than songs mainly consisting of chords. preferably for the electric guitar. examples of what I'm looking for: Metallica's "Bass and Guitar Doodle" from the Cunning Stunts American anthem (or another) Godfather theme Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" (ok not an easy one but memorable, even unique) Santana's "Europa" the only catch is there has to be a tab for it. (on olga.net or one of those websites) thanks!

nate_1979 9 #5 December 7, 2004 QuoteTabcrawler.com has a pretty good archive. I always use http://mxtabs.net FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
Frodo 0 #6 December 7, 2004 Yes, I know about these tab archives (my favorites are olga.net and ultimate-guitar.com), but the thing is I'd like to see some particular song names, b/c I just can't think of more than a handful of songs that I like and aren't too difficult to learn (but not too easy either, i.e. not the Happy Birthday 'theme'right now I can play some Santana, Metallica, Clapton and a few others, but these things are generally above my skill level. ccowden 0 #7 December 7, 2004 Try anything by Sublime. I don't think Bradley ever got the credit he deserves as a guitar player. It isn't the most difficult stuff, but it is alot of fun to play and can be challenging to get the timing.
lawrocket 3 #8 December 7, 2004 Relatively easy songs? Try any 12 bar blues. Easy to learn, easy to play, and extremly difficult to play well. On the lines of Hendrix, try Purple Haze. Easy to learn and play. Even more so, pick out some good country tunes. They've got some of the hottest pickers around. Learn the chords until you can play them well, then start learning how to pick with em. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Easy to learn and play. He's completely right. Hendrix - learn little wing. ahahah yeah right.... Also add Led Zeppelin to the list. Learn all of it. ALL of it. bisqit999 0 #10 December 7, 2004 A lot of people, including myself learn Crazy Train early on. It can be challenging and fun at the same time until you learn it....then its just easy. Some older Metallica stuff is also pretty easy to learn and fun at the same time.
DJL 235 #11 December 7, 2004 Try some Dire Straits. My favorite is Sultans of Swing. I only have the skills for the rythym part, but the lead is real nice."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
Frenchy68 0 #12 December 7, 2004 AC/DC (the REAL one, ie Bon Scott era) has some good riffs, easy to play. Anything by the Stones. Eruption by VH is easy yet impressive to guitar whuffos... And then, when you start approaching SR Vaughn... gimme a call! LearningTOfly 0 #13 December 7, 2004 "Say it ain't so" by wheezer is a pretty good song... It's got easy parts and harder parts and the solo isn't hard to play, but sounds awesome... there's a really good set of tabs at mxtabs.net

Good country means OLD country (from the outlaw artists) and Texas country. All the new shit from nashville is worthless.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." In my opinion, the ultimate guitar song. I spent five years learning how to play that solo, then got it down. Now I ask, "How the hell was I able to play that?!" My wife is hotter than your wife.
