question to you Guitar Players

Recommended Posts

d'you know any nice/familiar and relatively easy to learn songs? i mean solos, rather than songs mainly consisting of chords. preferably for the electric guitar.

examples of what I'm looking for:

Metallica's "Bass and Guitar Doodle" from the Cunning Stunts
American anthem (or another)
Godfather theme
Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" (ok not an easy one but memorable, even unique)
Santana's "Europa"

the only catch is there has to be a tab for it. (on olga.net or one of those websites)

;)thanks!

Yes, I know about these tab archives (my favorites are olga.net and ultimate-guitar.com), but the thing is I'd like to see some particular song names, b/c I just can't think of more than a handful of songs that I like and aren't too difficult to learn (but not too easy either, i.e. not the Happy Birthday 'theme':)
right now I can play some Santana, Metallica, Clapton and a few others, but these things are generally above my skill level.

Relatively easy songs? Try any 12 bar blues. Easy to learn, easy to play, and extremly difficult to play well.

On the lines of Hendrix, try Purple Haze. Easy to learn and play.

Even more so, pick out some good country tunes. They've got some of the hottest pickers around. Learn the chords until you can play them well, then start learning how to pick with em.

Also add Led Zeppelin to the list. Learn all of it. ALL of it.

Anything by the Stones.
Eruption by VH is easy yet impressive to guitar whuffos...
And then, when you start approaching SR Vaughn... gimme a call!;):)

Whenever someone says good country, it usually needs clarification.

Good country means OLD country (from the outlaw artists) and Texas country. All the new shit from nashville is worthless.

Try some Dire Straits. My favorite is Sultans of Swing. I only have the skills for the rythym part, but the lead is real nice.

In my opinion, the ultimate guitar song. I spent five years learning how to play that solo, then got it down. Now I ask, "How the hell was I able to play that?!"

Try this:
5string-2nd fret: ///
4thstring-1stfret: //
5string-2nd fret: /
6string-2nd fret: / (choke)
6string-open: /
Should be closer and should be familar.

I buy books and videos, to learn stuff.
Now, when you get into Alternate tunings, share with me all you know..I only just begun tuning stuff..
it has open a new sound world!
I think I invented 1 myself! haha
