Im planning on taking part time cources and finishing what iv already started over a few extra years.

its not like im dropping out all together, the fact of the matter is that my mam is ill and cant afford to support me finacially, she also needs help doing things sich as going to the doctors, i also have other crazy stuff happening such as i have been given a free glyding scholoship and if a finish that then i get the chance to do my flying scholoship for free then im already a good way through my PPL (Private piolets licence). Also in the future i have decided i want to be a PT instructor in the R.A.F. and you dont need A levels for this so at the moment there not at the top of my list.
I did think it through and im not some crazy teen droping out for the fin of it, i also plan to finish my courses over a longer period of time (3 or 4 years insted of just 1)
Anyone still think im doing the wrong thing??

Didn't I see a post a few days ago saying you dropped out this semester?

Yup, but that revolved around some severe personal issues regarding Nov 19th, not skydiving. I didn't drop out of school, this was a move to keep me in school so I can graduate in a year.

Read what you just typed Gizmo, and tell me those A-levels won't be useful.
Or are you taking the piss?

Joining the RAF won't really help your Mam, they will send you further away than your local college.

A levels wont help at this exact moment (hence why im going to finish the cource later, and if i was bringing money into the house then my dad would be able to take more time off work without everyone having to worry 2 much, im also not planning on going in for 3 years.

I understand pressures at home have made me feel i had no option but to leave college so I did now i have the hard task of telling my parents. (I live in the Uk) I am planning on taking a year out to refresh and then go back just to get some money behind me and to realise what I wnat to do with my life. I felt pressured into staying at college by my parents and now feel as though I will go mental if I stay there till the end of the year. Could anyone give me any advice on How to tell my parents I have left to relax a little. I am going to get a full time job and I have a part time one. I have already applied for a couple of jobs that could even lead to a career.

> I quit college last week because i need a job so i can get £££ for skydiving . . .

I didn't quit college, and now I have all the money I need for skydiving (and trips to Thailand etc.) 4 years isn't much of a sacrifice if it means being employable for the next 50.

I didn't go to college and now I have no money for skydiving. I agree with Bill - 4 years isn't much of a sacrifice at all if it means being able to afford to do what you want to do for the rest of your life.

It's just skydiving. My education has done more for me than my skydiving has.

What if you break yourself skydiving? It seems kind of silly to stop school knowing that there's a possibility you may not be able to jump due to circumstances as such.

I broke my leg on landing 2 weeks before Fall Semester was supposed to start. So because of jumping, I had to take the semester off. Now because I don't have a real job, I am having a hard time paying my medical bills plus the credit card bills that I built up while I was jumping.

Right now I am in the process of deciding to wait until I graduate college to go back or go back as soon as I am healed and hope for the best. The sky is starting to call my name now, but it would suck if I got hurt again before I graduated and had to take more time off school and go into even more debt than I am now.
I'm so funny I crack my head open!

Sorry to be rude, but I don't get that. I've seen people in my classes who were recently in car accidents and had to use wheelchairs.....

The college I go to is in the middle of downtown Atlanta where the sidewalks are absolutely ridiculous. I was horrible on crutches so we tried doing it in a wheelchair and we realized that it just wasn't going to work. I really have no idea how any handicap person can get around down there. Hardly any of the sidewalks have ramps so it's impossible to get up on them in a wheelchair. It's not like we didn't try before I withdrew.

Wow. Well, that's pretty crappy of them then! They need to make it handicap accessible.

Well it doesn't have a campus really. It's just like 5 buildings on the same street in downtown Atlanta, which is starting to get rather run-down. The buildings themselves are handicap accessible, but the sidewalks just SUCK!

Bad move....Go to school.

So what if you can't afford to jump? That is not everything.

You can afford it AFTER you get a job with your degree.

Don't piss away your future for the now.

Look at me, I have over 3,000 jumps and no degree....If I could, I would trade those for a degree.
