BillyVance 34 #10 November 26, 2004 Without a doubt, AC/DC's Thunderstruck is my all-time favorite. The lyrics may not have anything to do with skydiving, but the music fits. I only wish I could change the lyrics to fit it to the sport. The beginning lyrics would go like this: I was caught... in the middle of a malfunction... SKYDIVE! And I knew... there would be no turning back... SKYDIVE! And I thought... what could I do? SKYDIVE! And I knew, there would be no help, no help from you... SKYDIVE! The sound of the wind... The thunder of impact... Tore me apart... That's as far as I got... I know... I know... kind of morbid, isn't it? What the hell... Another heavy metal band, Megadeth, I think, they had done tandem jumps in Arizona a few years back, and wrote a song about skydiving called "High Speed Dirt". It's got too fast of a tempo for me, but it sounded okay. I also liked "Learning to fly" by Pink Floyd. Although "Jump" by Van Halen seems to be the anthem used most often, it's pretty well worn its usefulness, but I still find myself humming the opening guitar riffs from time to time... Most anything by Joe Satriani are great, such as "Ice 9", "Surfing with the Alien", and "Crushing Day". IanHarrop 42 #14 November 27, 2004 Old song from 1972 by Ken Tobias "Dream Number 2" click for sample http://www.kentobias.ca/DreamNo2.mp3 I drew a picture of a pair of wings because I want to fly My mother asked me to explain I said that I would try But I had a dream the other night about flying and the man who was teaching me was crying he said that fewer people were trying and the art of really flying was dying La la la la la la la La la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la She said it was the strangest thing that she had ever heard A man can only be a man he cannot be a bird That's not really true I tried to tell her If you search for love you soon will find an answer You gotta think so high you're floating like a feather But you have to learn to leave your head Just take the wings & fly away up into the wind Above the trees you glide with ease rounding back again Father can't you hear me, won't you take my hand, yeah Dying's a part of living, but I know you'll understand Bt all he did was walk away and leave me I saw in his eyes he said it cannot be He (unintelligible) a world of fantasy how can I tell him this is my reality Just take the wings & fly away up into the wind Above the trees you glide with ease rounding back again La la la la la la la La la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la I drew a picture of a pair of wings because I want to fly La la la la la la la"Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
smiles 0 #15 November 27, 2004 so many tunes fit differently to each individuals experience.. regardless if the lyrics include flight. For instance listening to Metallica 5.1 surround- "Nothing Else Matters"...while watching full screen "Year in the Life of Jeb 2003"---blows me away......... "So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are and nothing else matters" I absolutely luv the sounds made by Sigur Ros. Also tunes like: Castles in the Sky- Ivan Van Dahl God put a smile upon your face, Long way down, Learning to fly- Foo Fighters, ....... SMiles
nate_1979 9 #16 November 27, 2004 My latest skydiving song: David Lee Murphy: LOCO "And I might be a little bit loco, but it keeps me from loosing my mind, half insaine that's OK a little bit crazy's alright....... Nothing wrong with a little excitment, yea it helps me forget about work, live by the rule that everything's cool as long as nobody gets hurt......" Yea, love that song.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... gerrcoin 0 #23 November 27, 2004 This is a song that was #1 in Ireland a few years ago, from an Irish band called "Something Happens". The actual song isn't too bad but I don't think that it will be appearing on any tandem videos anytime soon. Parachute Take your parachute and jump, you can't stay here forever When everyone else is gone, being all alone won't seem that clever Take your parachute and go, there's gonna have to be some danger Take your parachute and jump, you're gonna have to take flight If the wind don't catch you, I will, I will If the wind's not there, I'm here Don't look out before you, you know it's a long way down I'll make it safer for you, your parachute won't let you down Take your parachute and go, and maybe come back tomorrow Take your parachute, I am, stop you ever getting sorrow Cause the winds might change, and the winds might blow over you And the winds might cut you in two, unless perhaps you get a raincoat Take your parachute and go, and wave to me as you are falling Take your parachute and jump, you'll hear a sound, it's just me calling It's a beautiful day for jumping, and nothing's here to keep you back I'll make it safer for you, your parachute is on your back Cause the winds might change, and the winds might change Take a parachute, I am And jump (the wind should come and catch you) And jump (before you hit the ground) And jump (the wind should come and catch you) And jump (before you hit the ground) Jump Take your parachute [Edit] Lyrics plagiarized from http://something-happens.lyrics-songs.com/lyrics/37383/ Also, since watching the Tandem Photoography tribute on SkyDivingMovies.com, I have become addicted to Puddle of Mudd's "Spin You Around".[/edit]
