fogobo 0 #1 August 25, 2009 I am having a 2K3 made for me by Jumpshack and they said there is no difference in the pack volume between an Optimum 160 and a PD 160. Any comments?
likestojump 3 #2 August 25, 2009 I doubt there are many who have packed an OP160. but ... I have an RSK1 which I had a Tempo120 in TIGHT w/o an AAD. I now pack a OP126 w/ Cypres2 and it's a great fit. just one data point....

Your best bet is to trust what the manufacturer says as each manufacturer's container sizes are different. I've seen riggers in the field stuff all kinds of canopies into containers and just because it "fits" and the container closes, doesn't mean that it's right. It can sometimes lead to other unforeseen problems. We had an opportunity to pack a PD Optimum 160, and I found it to be a good fit in our I-3x series of containers, which typically takes a PD Reserve 143. With that said, our I-4x series of containers accepts a PD Reserve 160 or PD Reserve 176. The better fit of the two canopies is the 176. I would not recommend putting a PD Optimum 160 into our I-4x, but the PD Optimum 176 should be a reasonable fit. In Jumpshacks case, it is quite possible that the PD Reserve 160 and PD Optimum 160 will go well into the same container.-Tony (253) 445-8790 Velocity Sports Equipment

mrwrong 0 #6 August 26, 2009 You're welcome... Now if anyone knows where I can find a document of the pack volume for PD mains I'd be very grateful “The sum of intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.” - George Bernard Shaw He who dies with the most toys, wins..... dudeist skydiver # 19515 Buy quality and cry once! freakyrat 1 #7 August 26, 2009 In my case and Optimum 126 fits nice in my Mirage G4 MT and the container feels good in freefall. It really isn't that loose. Here in Dallas where it is drier than Houston the regular PD126R in the same container is a bit snug. I could put an Optimum 143 in this container, it would fit but in my opinion it would feel like a brick on my back. In any case the manufacturer knows their containers and what fits. riggerrob 643 #9 August 28, 2009 I recently packed an Optimum 253 into a Softie (designed for a 200 square foot canopy) and it almost "fell" in!
SkyChimp 0 #10 August 28, 2009 Quote I recently packed an Optimum 253 into a Softie (designed for a 200 square foot canopy) and it almost "fell" in! We told our Optimum test canopy to jump in the D-bad and it did; without any back talking or smart remarks. It's very obideint. Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!
