kinney29 0 #1 November 11, 2004 Last night there was a wine tasting at a great Sushi Resturant in town. Yumm lots of wine and then a nice Sushi dinner. Is there anyone out there who is still afraid to try sushi? Personally I love it and always but some of my friends won't even try it.
Sheenster303 0 #2 November 11, 2004 I tried it once, but I was really scared beforehand. I should have listened to myself. That was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth.I'm so funny I crack my head open! P.M.S. #

kinney29 0 #4 November 11, 2004 It is wonderful, the texture is what gets most people at first. The first time I had octopus I wasn't entralled, it's a little gritty to me. Did you use soy sauce and wasabi? Edit: Fer spelin

BillyVance 34 #8 November 11, 2004 About the only kind of sushi I will eat are raw oysters, and then, only in reputable restaurants fresh out of the shells with a healthy dose of cocktail or horseradish sauce... kinney29 0 #10 November 11, 2004 Quote Yeah I did. I think that's one of the things I didn't like. I liked it a little better without it. As do I. Except with tuna. It's a little bland on it's own.
bkdice 0 #11 November 11, 2004 ouch! thats a bit more than i usually spend for sushi. however, being a food snob, i've spent $350 on dinner for 2 before, so i'll dish out some extra $ from time to time for good food. not as often since i've been skydiving though. flyingferret 0 #18 November 11, 2004 I think there are a couple reasons why people cannot seem to get over sushi: 1. the raw fish perception. People get this nasty image of what they think they will be eating. Most people I have taken are then amazed that it really does not taste anything like 'fish' if prepared right. People that get this perception and refuse to sway from it, annoy me. 2. texture issues. The texture of sushi is quite different most other foods. Personally, I love the texture variety, and think texture is a huge part of the culinary experience anyway. Even within sushi you can range from tender like tuna to crunchy like calamari, it just weird like flying fish eggs. At least if you try it, and the texture is really not appealing, then you have my respect. It is unfortunate that a lot of people try some generic sushi without any guide and the write it off. That is like writing hamburgers off after eating at McDonalds. I love sushi, and I still hate mediocre sushi. The ingredients are so critical. To give it a fair shot, you must try a good restaraunt, and have an experienced eater with you. After that, make friends with the chef, sit at the bar, and try whatever he comes up with...you will be amazed.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. Paige 0 #19 November 11, 2004 For a wine tasting and sushi for 3 people that is a steal. I remember paying $150 for dinner for 2 and I didn't even eat sushi, the bf did. I drank the wine but still should not have been that much. I guess he got a lot of sushi.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com

Brains 2 #22 November 11, 2004 I finally went and tried it this year. My gf convinced me to try it and i actually liked it. I love seared tuna, salmon, and some of the roll stuff. I have no desire to try eel or any fish eggs but i like the other stuff. I was amazed at how expensive it is though. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. Girlfalldown 0 #23 November 11, 2004 OMG that was fud up Janesky!! I love sushi. I love the weird texture. I was 15 the first time I had it and was hooked. I love the really strong tasting stuff and weird stuff to. Mmm now I want Uni with quail egg, monk fish liver, mackerel and flying fish roe for lunch with amaebi for dessert! The only thing I can't eat is giant clam. I ordered it once and the sushi chef showed me it was still alive by slamming it on the table and making it squeal. It squealed the whole way down my throat and tasted awful. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
PhillyKev 0 #24 November 11, 2004 Eel is really good...it's my favorite in fact. I'm not a big fan of mackarel, raw squid is absolutely disgusting (but I love calamari), and I won't try those big mounds of orange eggs, though I don't mind the small ones as garnish on a roll.
