Guest #1 November 8, 2004 CGI is just getting amazing. Coupled with a fun story, it's unbeatable. Disney / Pixar have knocked another one out of the park with "The Incredibles", which bowed Friday on 3,933 screens nationwide. It grossed $70M, which is probably a record for this time of year. It definitely debuted at number one with a bullet, if the crowds in my area were any indication. No spoilers here, but no review, either (I don't have time - sorry), but I can tell you that you will get more than your money's worth. Just check out the ratings and reviews on Yahoo, and the Tomato-Meter on rottentomatoes.com reads 97% - I've only seen ratings that high for "Lord of the Rings". I'm serious - this picture is outrageous good fun, and the best part is that it doesn't get cheap laughs with bathroom humor and the like. The first holiday-season blockbuster is here! mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
misskriss 0 #2 November 8, 2004 I took the girls today. We loved it!!!!
 quade 4 #3 November 8, 2004 The short, "Boundin'", that is attached to it was worth the price of admission (it kinda speaks to me on several levels right now). It's just breath taking to see the life they've been able to breathe into these characters. There are a couple of little plot holes in "The Incredibles", but I can forgive a lot when I see something otherwise so spectacular. This doesn't have quite the ootsie-cutsie quality that Pixar has been known for with "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo", this is a nice, family friendly action movie. Character design is really nice in some ways and a bit strange in others, but it all works fairly well with highly stylized faces and bodies that work pretty darn believably for humans . . . of course, these are cartoonish humans and not realistic humans so they do have a bit more room to play with. Pixar has taken hair and cloth to a level we haven't seen before as well too. It'll be interesting to see what "Polar Express" looks like when it comes out.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
 ltdiver 3 #4 November 8, 2004 Saw it last night with a couple of skydivers. At first we weren't too thrilled to see the hordes of pre-6 years olds accompanying their parents, thinking this would be a HUGE distraction to our enjoyment. The theater was packed at Perris, yet the kids behaved themselves very well! In fact, their laughter in just the right places made this movie better experience. THEY (and us) were in the story together. It was great. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
 Guest #5 November 8, 2004 "Boundin'" was amazing in its own right. The dust effects were what made my eyes pop out. I was going to mention hair and cloth in "The Incredibles" last night, but I was short on time. There were a lot of people sitting through the closing credits too. I thought they were film afficianados, but later I realized that they were hoping for CG "out-takes" as were seen in "Bug's Life" and "Toy Story 2". Too bad there weren't any. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." I loved Boundin', and the audience actually clapped after it was over. I was excited to see the EP3 preview. The Incredibles made us laugh pretty darn hard. It wasn't quite as good as Nemo, but it still gets an A for me. Makes you wonder if there will be a lot more CGI movies in the future. Seems like it should be cheaper and safer than expensive stunts, giant Hollywood set, etc. I think there's still plenty of room for more realistic movies - LOTR showed that great movies can be made by reducing CGI. But movies like Final Fantasy and Pixar flicks prove that CGI is just as profitable as the standard fare.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. I was totally fooled by CGI for the very first time when I went to see The Day After Tomorrow. The opening title sequence where there is a flyover the icefields, I knew the background of sky and mountains was a CG plate, but I thought the motion footage had actually been shot by a helicopter. I only discovered when I watched the DVD that the entire scene had been generated inside the computer. Excellently done. I wasn't planning to, but I will now go and see The Incredibles when it's out in the UK based on all your recommendations. Lu-"let the beast beware"-cy .
