Marz 0 #1 November 11, 2004 Come to think of it, maybe that's a bad choice of words, given as today is Memorial Day in Canada. I work for a crown corpratation (read government) so it's technically a statutory holiday. I came in, along with a few people to bank the time for x-mas. There's no one around though-no bosses, no distractions. So I'm pretty much wasting time..... It should be a productive day, but I just don't care!!!! Who has the day off today? _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?
CanuckInUSA 0 #2 November 11, 2004 Quotetoday is Memorial Day in Canada It's actually called Remembrance Day ... the day to commemorate that the armistice was signed to end World War I. And a minute of silence is honored on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. I'm sure you know this, I said it for the others who didn't. Did you get your poppy? And with all the American influence on TV, I sometimes get my holiday titles mixed up. I still call it Christmas although I think the official Canadian name is "frozen piss-up with relatives you never liked" Quote And a minute of silence is honored on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. CanuckInUSA 0 #4 November 11, 2004 QuoteI took my minute of silence, and yes, I have my poppy proudly pinned on my jacket... I'm planning on privately observing my minute of silence one more hour from now (I'm in the mountain time zone). But I don't have a poppy because I'm in Colorado where people don't know about this day and poppies are not available. skyejumper 0 #6 November 11, 2004 My office is really quiet too. It's Veteran's Day. All of the Federal employees are off. My boss is out, too.... so my "productive" work consists of surfing the internet, wandering the halls looking for candy, and I/M'ing a dz.com friend in the Northwest. Evelyn 0 #8 November 11, 2004 I have the day off work, but have spent most of the morning working around the house trying to get organized. I'm only on DZ.com now cuz I needed a little break. Housework IMO is much harder than office work, especially when you let it pile up to the point where you don't know where to begin. I better get back to my housework or before I know it the day will be gone and I'll have accomplished nothing except sitting at the computer all day posting (and that I can do tomorrow at the office since most people are taking the Friday off).
