Suggestions/Advice Required : Thumbnail Software

Recommended Posts

I've got 10 discs filled to the brim with photo's of buildings. I need thumbnail hard copies of these photos but I'm not sure how to do it. The two methods I'm familiar with, Paint Shop Pro and Windows Explorer, won't print thumbnails big enough. I require them of a size similar to fit 6 or 8 per A4 page.

Is there any software out there that can do such a task ? Freeware would be good but any other suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers.

Sounds like you are trying print what could be described as a contact sheet.
It may be that your existing catalogue software can do this.
I know the software that comes with Cannon cameras (Zoombrowser I think) can do this pretty easily.

This is what the Chicago Historical Society photo lab uses. It's not really powerful enough for museums with 1.5 million images they need to organize, but I imagine it's just what you're looking for. Unfortunately it's not freeware, but there is a trial version available for download.

I've used this method for a web gallery so it's not exactly point and click but if you an Nix savvy you could use Image Magick to create the thumbnails in bulk ( directions here using wildcards and either "convert" or mrogify"

Once made you could import the thumbnails into word or "Gasp" powerpoint to print out the pages.
