How long did it take you to vote?

Yesterday, Barbara Striessand called me, telling me to go vote. Now, Arnold Schwarzenegger just called me to tell me to vote for Bush. I feel so important. I wonder if they'll let me call them next week to have lunch together.

BAHAHA!! Can I come along?

Because my school schedule is so intense this week, I decided to take advantage of the early voting and drove myself over to the court house on Sunday to put in my two cents for the election. SEVEN HOURS later, it was all done. I seriously can't believe I waited so long, but when I first got there, they handed out numbers and told everyone it would take about 2-3 hours. I had to study, so I figured the court house was as good a place as any for it. After a few hours, I realized that I was there for the day, but I had already waited so long that I couldn't see leaving.

The polls were supposed to be open from 1-4pm. I got there at 1:45pm. I was number 931 of 1187. I finally cast my vote at 8:50pm. :S

The place was a total zoo. There were hundreds of people waiting and a never-ending barrage of campaigners....vote Kerry, vote Bush, vote No, vote Yes. The two best parts were that mostly everyone was really friendly and despite all the politics talk there was less fury generated than even our illustrious speaker's corner. People were handing out drinks...vitamin water in different flavors and bottled water for kerry. I even got tickets to an Edwards rally with Jimmy Buffett in Pompano Beach last night. B|

It was an experience...one that I enjoyed, but wouldn't want to repeat for say....at least another four years! ;)

I was one of the first in line at my polling place, 5:45 AM. I was impresed with Will County in IL, they had their sh*t together. The ballot was very simple and I recieved instructions with pictures a few weeks in advance. They should write the book on how to run an election.

So they think you're Black!?! :o :D:P:)

They must! Actually, they think Andy is black, since the phone is under his name. Andy picked up the call from Chris Rock, and I picked up the call from my good friend Malcolm. :D

Sure, but now you have someone else to choose from too! My Governor, Jeb Bush, called too. Now, I may be just assuming things, but I think he might be a little biased in who he wants me to vote for.

That's interesting that you're actually getting calls petitioning you for a certain vote. We just got calls essentially saying "Get out and vote!" I haven't been at home since about 1:30, so I dunno if we received any additional ones.

Another interesting tidbit, the call that Andy listened to (Chris Rock) said something to the effect of "Remember what happened to us during the last election when they tried to keep us from voting? Well if that happens again, call this number..."

I still love that we're getting the "black vote" calls, though. :D

Just checked my messages. One from Jesse Jackson telling me to vote for Kerry. One from America Coming Together telling me to vote for change. And one from some guy telling me to vote and that if anyone tries to stop me or intimidate me, walk away, call some 800 number and they will send a lawyer out to represent me and get my vote counted. :S

Thank god I don't have a home phone. Just my cell.

The only calls I've made/received today were from my parents, my teammate, and a friend. Only one call even mentioned voting.

Voted absentee. :^) So, I voted at my own leisure, signed, stuck a stamp, put it in the mail, and stopped worrying over all the ludicrous commercials after that. ;)

Had to laugh at my co-workers who struggled in after getting up early and dragging themselves into work this morning! :P

I voted three weeks ago at an early voting station at a local Albertsons supermarket. I had ducked in to get some lunch supplies for work and there it was, with just two people sitting at this table. So I thought "why not ?". They got me checked in right away and took a few minutes to show me how the new little electronic doodle pad works and then I was off and voting. The whole thing was maybe 5 min. max.

I saw a lot of long lines today. It's good that so many people were waiting in line and being patient and not getting all pissed off about it. This election's been a record turnout by any standard and that's a good thing no matter how it turns out.

I arrived at about 17:00 local time. I found only ONE person ahead of me at my alphabetical section (You know, "A-E") waiting to sign the voter register. I waited about two or three minutes while they sorted out the old guy ahead of me, and then I was done in under a minute. I got my vote-activation card (for the touch-screen machine), and cast my ballot in about 2 more minutes. I was walking out, I think, at about 17:11.

NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. And NO SIGN of problems whatsoever.

I did hear one poll worker say that it was crowded earlier in the day. I'm so glad I don't get up early in the day. ;)
