Vallerina 2 #1 October 23, 2004 Yay! Time for me to whine again (I'm at home on a Friday night, so I have every right to!) The headache that I couldn't cure, well, I'm pretty sure it's a migraine. I used to get migraines frequently as a kid, and I've had a few as an adult. I just haven't had one like this before. The pain isn't so bad unless I move my head. It's on just the right side (temple to above the eyebrow), and it's been like this for the past few days (it's gotten a bit worse.) The second I move out of bed, it hurts. So, I'm pretty sure it's just a migraine. My conventional methods of curing headaches (sleep) just won't cut it. With my lack of understanding, I thought that there was nothing a doctor can really do about migraines. I know that Excedrin Migraine, while great for my headaches, hasn't done much for my migraines (usually, they're shorter with more intense pain...this one's new for me.) I'm pretty sure that's what I've got going on right now....migraines have always sucked. Even with a bit less pain, they still suck! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
mccurley 1 #2 October 23, 2004 Migrains suck! I get them from time to time, usually preceded by some some blind spots which manifest as sort of shimering areas just off the central vision area. Aperantly this is caused by a constriction in the blood vessels to the brain reducing the blood flow. As I get a warning of the impending headache from the blind spots I have discovered the best thing to do is to get some excercise in and get the heart beating a bit faster. Presto headache is averted or at least minimized. Works for me anyway.Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

I thought the pain of a migraine was felt due to the expansion of blood vessels. I may be wrong. QuoteWorks for me anyway. (Not on purpose) I worked out right before it. I haven't been able to work out since I've had it, though. Well, the pain isn't as bad as it was last night, but I still can't move my head. Luckily, it's rainy and crappy out, so it's not like I'd be doing much today anyways! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
antifnsocial 0 #4 October 23, 2004 Girl, get yourself to a doctor pronto!! Don't suffer a minute longer you poor thing. I have migraines too and they have 8 or9 new drugs and therapies out there. And they aren't drugs that are addictive and don't knock you out. I can even do my job which is very physical. They may even okay skydiving on some of them because they don't effect motor skills at all. Best thing, they get rid of your damn headache!! Don't suffer, get help!! Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.
skykittykat 0 #5 October 23, 2004 Nothing,, bar a good tablet, gets rid of migraines for me especially as I vomit and can't move. I either use Migralieve or Nolotil. Basically they knock you out so you can sleep and when you wake up a good few hours later the migraine is gone. The only downside is that the tablets make you pretty sluggish for a couple of hours after waking up. Liz
lightningbugirl 0 #6 October 23, 2004 I take imitrex for mine. It helps most of the time but not always. Sometimes you have to just hole up and sleep until they pass. Put a cool cloth on your head, pull blinds and sleep. I hope it goes away fast.
justaflygirl 0 #7 October 23, 2004 sounds like one to me, but I agree with the others, go to the Doc! I am in the process of filing for disabilty, due to mine, any stress = tension headaches + more stress = sickening migraines. I have tried a pluethra of meds, not really anything works, I have had a several CAT scans, the only thing they have determined is, that yes in fact, my brain is there & functioning. But girl, get yourself to the Doc, to make sure its only a migraine! Keep us posted!
kai2k1 0 #8 October 23, 2004 WW has been battling them for over 5 years. Like others have said, Get to a doctor. Imitrex works for some, but not all. She takes a daily dose of Depakote and just has to veg out in a quiet room with no light when she has an attack. I feel for you Val.. Vallerina 2 #9 October 23, 2004 Thanks, all! This really does suck. But, as long as I don't move, I'm fine. I want to go and do a bunch of cool things...or anything at all, but it hurts to move! As long as I'm fine by Wednesday, I won't worry too much. I'm going to try to get to the doctor on Monday. My insurance sucks for going to the ER (I have to pay 10% of whatever treatment I get, so if I wait until Monday, they'll pay for it all.) It's weird, if I blink too hard, it hurts!
