cocheese 0 #1 October 18, 2004 Long story short : At Bridge day there was a Canadian reporter who had never been around skydiving/base. I met her in line during registration on Thurs. night.Sat night after the jumping and her many interviews of jumpers, i asked her a question :What is it that we all have in common ? I told her i tried to explain it to non- jumpers but that my opinion was biased etc.She said : We all have a passion for life and living . We are so positive and willing to live life to the fullest. Our commradirie is great also she said. We are not what she expected... she expected a rougher bunch with no respect for life etc.She found we are normal in appearance, but the passion for life and living was so evident and our love for each other is huge too.She said she wants to make a skydive in Florida this winter. She was as happy as we all were. ...and now you know .... the rest of the story. Good Day.
goose491 0 #2 October 18, 2004 Well that's certainly nice to hear, thanks for sharing. ... Now if only we can get them to write about us without the "death-wish" connotation... Hope you had fun at Bridge day! Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Vallerina 2 #6 October 18, 2004 QuoteHang in there. Well, thanks! I can't wait to meet you, too! We live so close, so it'll happen someday, I'm sure! But, I don't really need any uplifting thoughts or anything like that. It's just an observation. There is a really strong bond amongst jumpers while you're jumping and not disagreeing. But, because of that strong bond, when you don't jump or if you disagree with the popular opinion, you are excluded completely. So, it's a double edge sword. The strong bond feels great when you're in it, but when you're not "in" anymore, you see that the strong bond means that you are now strongly "out." Just ask anyone who has quit jumping how many of their jumping friends still contact them....There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
cocheese 0 #7 October 18, 2004 Yea i think we all feel that way sometimes. I do occasionally,if quit jumping or not. So when you give your friendship or love to other people, you are bound to make someone else feel left out or sad.So i "got married" at bridge day . It was all just fun and games .. until it hurt someone i care a lot about. Now i feel like laying low until the fog clears.

Come on Val, you've more support than you let on. The DZ.com response is not that of the entire skydiving community either. Don't forget that with any online community comes a highly amplified tendency to argue and flame. And that was a touchy subject. One that none of us enjoy seeing brought up on a public forum for all to see. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
