lawrocket 3 #1 October 15, 2004 This is something I've been thinking about. I've been practicing law for a little less than three years. Some people are concerned about my lack of experience. Others actually prefer my youth, thinking that I've got the newest knowledge. I think both are wrong. SO, I guess my question should be, "What circumstances would have you trust somebody doing something for you for the first time?" My wife is hotter than your wife. wmw999 2,544 #7 October 15, 2004 I'd trust a newbie with anything straightforward that needed more knowledge than I have. Contracts with people I trust, divorces from people I trust, etc. Once I'm dealing with chicanery, or situations that can get very convoluted, I'd want the help of someone who has been there and done that in a lot of situations. There's nothing like scars to help you remember some experiences Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
Dougiefresh 0 #8 October 15, 2004 Quotejust look confident and act like u totally know wat u doin! that's good advice for any part of life, no matter how experienced you are... too bad I suck at it.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
peregrinerose 0 #9 October 15, 2004 I'm an eye doc, have been for almost 5 years. I am female and look like I'm barely 20, though I'm 30. The first comment I get is 'I wasn't expecting a girl doctor' to which I look down at my ample chest and say 'thanks, I hadn't noticed'. When asked how old I am, how long I've been doing this, etc. I giggle like a total ditz, and say 'I graduated yesterday and you are my 3rd patient!'. Getting people to laugh generally relaxes them. Once they are at ease, it's pretty obvious that I know my shit. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
pilotdave 0 #10 October 15, 2004 I had a friend of mine pack my reserve right after he got his riggers license. It was his first unsupervised pack job. He had me print the directions from the internet for him. There's nothing like watching a kid that was a couple years younger than me staring at the Reflex packing manual saying "what the heck is this picture supposed to be showing me??" while packing my reserve. He started at about 11:30pm. Finished somewhere around 5am. At least I knew he did a thorough job! Dave
