BillyVance 34 #26 October 11, 2004 QuoteThat kinda came out of nowhere. Paralysis aside, I didn't realize he was in bad health. Blue skies duder. Being a quadriplegic brings its own set of health risks, and it is from his paralysis that complications led to his death. I'm reminded about another outstanding individual who went through similar trials and tribulations - former all-american college linebacker and all-pro NFL player Derrick Thomas. Although Derrick lived a lot less after his accident (car wreck in snowy conditions), he too died from complications resulting from his spinal cord injury. One day he was just smiling and talking, and all of a sudden his eyes rolled back and he went into cardiac arrest and was gone. They're both gone physically, but man, the memories live on. What a heck of a job Christopher Reeve did acting as Superman. What a heck of a job Derrick Thomas did terrorizing opposing quarterbacks for the University of Alabama and Kansas City Chiefs... SkyDolphin 0 #27 October 11, 2004 This makes me so sad. I was at the horse show that day in Culpepper. I didn't actually see his accident. We had gone to another farm down the road to see some miniature horses but heard the sirens and then later heard what had happened. Blue Skies Chris. QuickDraw 0 #28 October 11, 2004 QuoteWhile it may forever remain folly to hope for never-ending human life, people like Christopher Reeve breath never-ending life to human hope. Nicely put. A very brave man indeed, and a good example for human spirit and determination. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
Guest #29 October 11, 2004 It's not everybody who can succeed in show biz, and then when it all goes South, change the way scientists and physicians (and politicians!) think about paralysis. Go easy, Chris. mh .

It's odd, watching parts of your childhood fade away, isn't it? Despite the fact that I didn't know the guy I had always hoped that he would accomplish his goal to walk again. Yes, they are making a new Superman and if I am not mistaken it will be out the summer of 2006. Bryan Singer, the director of both X-Men movies, will be filming it. The bad part about that is Fox pulled his contract for X3 because of this._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
