I'm just ready for there to be ANY other name besides his to be the first to reply to all posts in all threads in all categories!

NO. And I can't figure out why you would think that's his fault, or that he should suffer 'cause of it.

Whenever Dave posts in a discussable/debatable thread topic, he tends, I find, to post on the sensible side of the issue. Since the place is better for having him here -- and since I have yet to make the same observation about you -- I vote to keep him on. Next, maybe, a poll to see if YOU should go for a week so that you'd spend the week not being bothered by him replying first to "all threads in all categories." :S If you're that bothered by it, maybe you should take yourself a break. Or, as you blithely suggest for Dave, you should be given a break.

Speaking of Dave... where is he today?

dunno -

but I bet that the Dr. could be taking good care of him.

You know the Dr. right?

Dr. Jasper Daniels?

You might know him better as Jack.

My favorite AD post was last year when he was explaining to someone how line stows do not affect an opening. Great advice. That is when my AD radar went up.

Besides the locking stows? They really don't make a damn bit of difference. Nice try though, come back again soon...not. :P

Heh. Thanks for the "love."

For all of those that asked, it wasn't me, I've been off line most of the day. Had a follow up appointment with my doc then spend the rest of the day trying to keep from going out of my mind since I can't do anything. Sat around on pain meds, playing Xbox and napping.

For most of the other folks that responded, thank you for the real love and good vibes. Its nice to hear sometimes (especially when you're bummed out due to not being able to jump or do anything).:)

What's your point here?

What about line stows affecting opening?

Keep the bag shut until line stretch and what you do with lines don't make a bit of difference. It's well proven.

Wow. So you are one of the few that does not feel that snatch, snivel and inflation all play major parts in the speed and quality of opening with pilot chute size and stow quality affecting snatch the most? Hmmm. You don't care if the bag is accelerated back to your speed before the slider is exposed to the air? You think only the locking stows control the speed of line stretch and determine whether or not there is a dump. Interesting.

I've free-stowed all but the locking stows (just folded the excess line in the pack tray, and suitless I fall at 138. Beautiful openings on my Stiletto. Try again.

You may also want to look at some of the new stow-less bags on the market.

Too large a Pilot chute will give you the initial snatch force that slams you.

I have proven on many occasions and many different canopies that locking stows matter. The rest do not. Look up the Lazy bag. The lines are free stowed.

rigging65 has well documented his use of a lazy bag... or his version of the lazy bag.

I've used no line stows or simply loose line stows and tight locking stows hundreds of times.

Line dump makes no difference. Bag strip on the other hand... does. If the bag comes off prior to line stretch, you will see stars and sometimes a whole lot more.

I used to think what you did until one day I started experimenting on my own. Sure enough... you are lured into believing some old school unproven thoughts.

Line stows keep lines orderly and pull them away from your rig in an orderly fashion. That is all. Locking stows keep the bag on the canopy until linestretch.

Poor parachute packing techniques... especially allowing the slider to be part way down prior to closing the d-bag will cause a SLAMMIN opening.

Reserve freebags (except the speedbag) have only locking stows. The canopy itself is designed and packed to open quickly. Put that same freebag on a modern main canopy it will open smoothly as it was designed.
