SkydiveNFlorida 0 #1 September 25, 2004 What was it like when you ordered your first custom rig? Did you think about it all day every day while you waited? Did you wonder if things would come out just as you specified? Did you not even want to jump your old rig anymore? Man, I am DYING to get my new Voodoo! It's killing me.... slowly... I think I might actually explode when it arrives. And, I only ordered it three days ago. Helllllpppp!! Does this go away after a few days, or will it be like this for the next 5-6 weeks until it comes? I'm freakin' out, man! Share your stories, what was it like getting your first custom rig? -A
christoofar 0 #2 September 25, 2004 My first rig (and still is my rig) was my brother's, which I hansomly purchsed (a nice J-1 that fits me like a glove). He had a custom-made plate put into the chest harness on the left side with a velcro pad for the altimeter, so I would never forget my altimeter, all I had was to look at my chest (he used it for skysurfing so he woudn't have to adjust his hand positions). I was really extatic when I bought it... and I went to DZ.com and got a Sabre2-170 /w 50 jumps from a pretty cool Southwest pilot (think his name was Wade?) and took out the pink stiletto 150 that was in it (I'll never jump a HP canopy anyway, I like my femur very much) ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Ahh, so you didn't have to wait, though. Anticipation is killer. I bought my first rig (used) at the dropshop in sebastian. Got a good deal, and at the time I had ~25 jumps and I could not have been happier. But, once I got more jumps, I started to dislike the way it felt in freefall. It is a tad big for my build (though I think the height is about right). But, I hear ya, even used is exciting! :) Waiting for custom is killer, tho! I can't concentrate on anything else for too long uniterrupted by thoughts of my new unbuilt voodoo. -A
gravityizsexy 0 #4 September 25, 2004 It doesn't go away until you get it, it ruins your days cause you can't concentrate on anything else, and whenever you try.. your brain resets itself... until you start thinking about your gear again. dood, your gonna loose some sleep for a while. till then, there's always DZ.com -tony "'Someday is not a day in my week'"
Unstable 9 #5 September 25, 2004 Ahh yes, I remember the anticipation when I bought my first New Custom Rig. It was a painful three weeks while Jumpshack put my racer together - I mostly hid in my room and waited for the UPS guy. I was kinda like a hermit. Congratulation dude - I expect some pics of your new Voodoo when she comes in....=========Shaun ==========

pringles 0 #11 September 25, 2004 It never gets better. It sucks. I have a rig on order right now. I orderd it july 2. I was told 8wks. Still no rig. My gear is being built in Florida. From what I hear they have had a pretty hectic last month or so. So its cool. But believe me I still find myself waiting by the front door every day. Kinda like a little school girl waiting for her prom date to pick her up. All giddy and excited inside. Matt Davies
