Are you adventurous?

Recommended Posts

Quit a good job to spend a summer playing dz/boogie bum.

Packed up and moved across the US, leaving my entire family and most of my friends, at the end of that summer to take a new job.

Drove 1300+ miles one way to surprise someone.

Partied with Chuck Blue. More than once.

I guess my life is pretty boring, the more I think about it the less "adverturous" things I've done. Well, by adverturous I mean spontanious, I tend to plan details out for stuff.

Even the random motorcycle trip that Morgan and I took last month, the idea was random but after the idea was established I already knew exactly what routes we were taking, where we were staying, even the places I wanted to eat at (not to mention I could picture the places I knew I would stop for gas). Kinda sad huh?

How'd it work out?

AND yes, that's pretty damn daring..... :)

We'll see I'm just recently making this decision. Tell me if I'm making a mistake though. :)

There is a thread with my music linked to it. Or check it out here http://www.bpandrr.com/mp3dwnlds.html

Let's hope I'm not making a terrible decision. :)

I jumped out of a plane!!!!

Honestly, that IS adventurous for me.

Other than jumping....
I am planning to make a Move next summer similar to the others. I will be quitting my job of 20 years and moving out of my hometown alone.
BIG move for me. I won't be moving without at job, so not That courageous and only moving 130 miles away.

I guess my only other adventure .. was really just a crazy idea. I flew a friend from Springfield IL to Cleveland OH, in the middle of the night in a single engine plane.
Just because it was a nice night to fly.
We intended to leave in the morning, but it was so nice that night we just packed up on a whim and went.

Nothing as extreme as Running with the Bulls... ;)

You need to go Whitewater sailing across the Columbia River bar.. in my 22' sloop... scares me almost every time.. even on a dead calm day the current swells on an outgoing tide (ebb tide) are about 8 to 10 ft where the river meets the ocean and flowing at 5 knots... in the summer at low river levels. But when the conditions are not ideal.. then it gets REALLLLY fun.. with huge breaking waves.... and winds doing strange things when you are in a trough of a huge wave.

WHITE KNUCKLES WOO HOO

GOD its a rush most days....With a Motorboat you can power thru it.. in the sailboat... you have to pit your skill and knowledge of the bar against the elements. And back there in your thoughts.. its called the Graveyard of the Pacific.. for all too good reason.

went to Wyoming for my summer vacation and spent it digging up dinosaurs three years in a row.

Rafted the Snake river three times and the Arkansas once.

Got in my car, picked a direction, and drove, just to see where I'd end up...four states away.

Jumped out of a plane

Started law school.

I made a concious decision to live my life instead of spending my time killing myself.
So I got clean and have been on an adventure for 14 years, just finding out who the guy is who lives in my skin:)So far I'm impressed;)B|
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

How's yours doing?

Quit my job, gave a pretty brunette an engagement ring. Missed my plane the next morning for Phuket Thailand.:$ Got on another plane. Worked crew on my oldest friend's sailboat as we sailed it from Thailand to Israel (with side adventures into Sri-Lanka, India, Nepal, Djibouti, etc). Got back 4.5 months later. Picked up my stuff. Moved to where my cutie lived. Got married. Moved away from said cutie. Got divorced. Got over it. Started skydiving.

I don't seek out adventure per se ...But if a good one happens by, as they occasionally do, I generally opt in.

What's something 'adventurous' that you've done before?

***

1)Started freeclimbing BEFORE getting instructions.....[:/]

Hey, you never said it had to be smart !!!!

2)showed up riding my ducati to a seriously harley only bar..... probably dumber than #1....

3)found out how much fun being a father is.......

They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

About 3 months ago I quit my dream job and left the city I loved because I decided I was young and wanted to do something to help others and also because I just wanted to live a little more before I "grew up."

Accepted a volunteer position with AmeriCorps in the Florida Keys.

Funding for said position fell through.

Now I'm living with family in Atlanta while looking for another AmeriCorps position.

But, I started skydiving in the meantime and am still trying to decide what is next. I would still love to volunteer, but it sure would be tough to skydive if I was working fulltime for no money!

We'll see!

1. Tried to climb a 22,000' mountain in Peru

2. Paddle guided a whitewater raft down Class 5+ Gore Canyon having never seen it before. At least most of the paddlers were also professional raft guides.

3. Went to Costa Rica with no clue what we were going to do. We ended up going on a backpacking trip through the rainforest and crossing croc infested rivers.

4. Got a "real job" :o

5. Rowed a raft down the Grand Canyon. It was the best 18-days of my life!

6. Jumped out of an airplane. Then did it again. and again. and again....
