e-mail recalling is not even close to being standard SMTP. I would assume the recall did not work and the client received 2 messages from you, one with the oops, the other with your wish to recall.

Exactly. It usually only works when you send an internal email on the same exchange server. However, if they read the original email before the click on the "recall" email, they can read the first.

That would be frightneing, but what I said was true. So I guess I could say it if I had to-- I'm just not good with confrontation. It was good-natured work bitching with a friend. We all do it, although maybe not over e-mail, but WE ALL DO IT. And I dare you to say otherwise. And if you say it out loud, like the TM's who complain about the 270-lb. guy they just had to take, etc., they could be standing behind you.

No more of this "holier than thou" bullshit. Hell, even Mary did it, and I consider her to be one of the most moralistic, honest people on here.

Thanks for the input.

I don't have the ability to communicate "I'm annoyed with you, you jerk" without either intimidating the other person, or provoking them to violence.

WOW, have you ever thought about pursuing a career in law enforcement?:P:D

Hint: never say anything bad about a person behind their back which you would not say to their face if given the opportunity.

would that more people lived by this....

Yes, I realize it. If I wasn't shaking with fear when I realized what I had done, I would've been laughing my ass off. It's kinda like the time I sprained the shit out of my ankle, but I couldn't stop laughing because I knew how funny it looked. :D

Anyway, no news yet. Either the woman who received it wasn't in the office today, or she didn't tell anyone. I know the recall didn't work. So in a couple of days, if I haven't heard anything, it should be all good.

Exactly, which is why I usally send another email with the same subject line 'real' quick. They are more likely to go straight to the 'new' message and just delete the older one. Noone has that much time to waste on trying to figure out who sent the wrong attachment or who did which typo or whatever.

I'd be ready for it to surface sometime; really. It's the kind of thing that some folks consider to be "too good not to share." Unfortunately. So, even if you don't hear anything right away, you might want to follow up with the customer, and remain a real person to her so that she considers the source if she wants to share sometime.

Folks here still have copies of the nuclear "I quit and our VP is a flaming asshole and here's all the reasons why" letter put out by someone who rejoined the project after it moved to another (much better) company.

But because he's a nice guy, and the then-VP really was a flaming asshole, it's only shared "among friends." Probably.

Oh Kelly, I hope that you can clear things up with the offended parties somehow. Sometimes, a heartfelt apology is all that it takes to make things ok.

Furthermore, not to preach, but I strongly agree with Skymonkeyone, Deuce, Skymama and the others that it's best to not say anything behind anyone's back that you wouldn't want to say to their face. Of course, by now, you already know that. :$ ;)

I do wish you good luck with this though, and please let us know how it all works out. Good luck!

:)

Ok, I'm done with this thread. Karma, blah, blah, blah . . . you've all done it, so get off it. Lesson learned. I believe in karma, but we've all done shit that deserved something to come back around, good and bad.

Some people are so freakin' hypocritical, it makes me want to laugh out loud.

well its freakin wierd but I just got off the phone to a customer (works in military stuff) and he's just done something very similar. He printed a "restricted document" to the wrong printer and now they are trying to find out where the printer is - its a very large company and the printer could be at any number of sites!!
