RkyMtnHigh 0 #3 September 14, 2004 I'm not "brave", Jeff. I just refuse to leave my family. We've done all the preparations we can, the 90 yr old grandparents have made it to our place (Thank God!) and atleast we're all together. The Mayor just ordered a mandatory evac for all areas south of I-10, which includes us, but there are 4 neighbors that are staying and my father insists to stay. The Interstate traffic is bumper to bumper and who knows if we could get out at this point if we tried. Hotel rooms are booked all the way westbound to Houston and north up thru Memphis! We're off Dauphin Island Parkway, on the west side of Mobile Bay..just in case you're watching Ivan's path. Thanks for your concern. I'm sure we'll be fine. _________________________________________

If you had a Cat4 Hurricane knocking on your front door and you lived that close to the water, wouldn't you move? Don't go to New Orleans! They are calling for the lake to over flow and thinking the entire city may be flooded by the weekend. Katee - I'd knock the parents out and toss them into the car and head north. You still have at least 24 hours to get away from the coast line._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... cocheese 0 #6 September 14, 2004 No. I wouldn't stay.80 mph winds and 2 feet of water would suck. But try 150 mph winds and 20 feet of water.Ivan :Baby please don't go .. Down to New Orleans ya know i love ya so... Baby please don't go. This Ivan doesn't just kill kittens. Katee i don't know what to say.

But still.. furthermore, there are some shelters that are only rated to withstand 110 mph! I just hope and pray that this one was just a freaky scare and it dies down and turns out to be just a mild, tropical storm. I've spoken with some others who also jump at Gold Coast who live south of I-10 near the MS/AL state line and they're staying too. _________________________________________

I'm safe in Tennessee, but my girlfriend is about 30 miles southeast of New Orleans in Chalmette. It's actually lower elevation than New Orleans.
