That brings up a new point...

Designer Protein is a good whey based suppliment that tastes pretty good. I like the strawberry with slices of bannana blened into it and I use 2% milk and blender to mix it up.

EAS has some really good whey based pre-mixed protein drinks that are great for on the run.

"Okay, so I'm still trying out this whole not eating meat thing. I went to the health food store, and I bought a ton of organic food. I bought meatless deli meats and cheese. I've been snacking on organic soy yogurt. I'm doing what I can."

So how are you liking the meatless cold cuts? I tried some, can't remember what brand, from the health food store and it tasted like a rubber garden hose.>:(

Gotta agree. But if you make a sandwich with soy cheese, tomatoes, goddess dressing (Annie's Naturals is my fave), cucumbers and spinach - can't taste the soy meat! B|

Have you tried Ginger Teryaki Tofurky Jerky? Now THAT'S yummy!

My body definitely doesn't like red meat.

If you go awhile without eating meat....yes....when you do your body won't like it much. Works that way with just about anything. When I haven't had bread in a few days and I eat just a little.....my stomach is all jacked up. Usually feel like I ate a 12 Lb marshmellow. Also remember.....when you starve your body of certain things it can have a hard time remembering how to digest them. Remember the concentration camp survivors dieing when well meaning GI's gave them C-rats. C-rats are bad.......but they won't normally kill healthy people. ;)

Why not just give up red meat first? Stick to chicken and fish for awhile. Then try cutting them out.

I've done that numerous times. I've never been a big red meat eater in the first place. The only times I would definitely eat it were around my period (if I remembered) and before I would give blood (if I didn't remember to eat red meat, I'd always have to come in the next day...when I got the reminder that my blood sucked!) But, many times in high school and college, I would give up red meat for awhile.

If you want to try a meat that has been raised hormone and chemical free, buy from your local 4-H stock shows. You can purchase a hog, chicken, meat goat or lamb, steer (usually you go in halves w/someone else) and take it to a rep butcher to have it processed. You will need extra freezer space but, generally the price per pound is awesome and the quality is beyond compare. Or contact your Local High School Agg teacher and he/she can help you with the purchase of a quality animal that did not make sale!

Not to nay say the whole veggie thing - cuz I love them fresh from the garden too. But that whole hormone thing is very real, it can mess you up at certain times when your immune system is off.
