pilotdave 0 #84 January 8, 2003 Quote I know that little airport. Here's a bit of trivia: That is where Bill Cosby keeps his plane because his primary residence is not far from there. That may have been true a long time ago but not anymore I don't think. He now owns a Gulfstream G-IV, which is much too big for Turners Falls. He flies into Westfield, MA (where I did most of my flight training). I've seen his plane a couple times but never got to meet him. My instructor knew his pilot and once arranged a "tour" of his plane for after one of my flying lessons, but they ended up leaving before we were back down. Cosby's previous plane was an MU-2. My instructor told me about the first time he met Bill Cosby. The plane landed and my instructor was walking up to say hi. Well, the door opened, and there was Cosby (not sure if my instructor knew it was his plane at the time). My instructor kinda freaked out and took a couple steps back... right into the prop, and banged his head. Bill Cosby asked him if he was ok. Nice introduction, huh? Turners Falls is a freaky little airport. I flew there years ago in my early flight training. All I remember is there were weird old planes, and weird old men sitting around the airport. I had one instructor take me to Orange, MA to see something cool. Turned out to be a Piper Cherokee that had recently landed on top of a Piper Traumahawk on short final (midair collision that resulted in a successful double decker landing). The wings were bent way down. Pretty cool, considering nobody was hurt. Dave
Muenkel 0 #85 January 8, 2003 Perhaps it was some years ago. I know he has a helipad on his estate which is probably about 50 miles from Westfield. So I am assuming he's taking the helicopter to Westfield. Since he does live in my neck o the woods, I have had the pleasure of meeting him and seeing him around town. Seems like a very nice person. _________________________________________ Chris
