mr2mk1g 10 #1 September 8, 2004 Sorry to bother you all but I'm trying to post some photo's for a friend elswhere and everything's broken... so I'm borrowing DZ.com to host them as it's the only thing reliable enought to actually get them up. Cheers sangrio. Anyway - this is the intended landing area for my first demo, going off at the end of the month. Tight aint it! Outs you say?... does the grass verge count? If you actually give a damn this link is the aerial map. No... we don't get to land on the nice football pitch top center.... we have to land down the grass gully (wiggley brown bit just right of center running north-south). Should be fun... and more importantly look sweet. http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=362000&Y=178500&width=700&height=410&gride=362093&gridn=178061&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=pc&pc=&zm=0&scale=5000&down.x=290&down.y=
bobsled92 0 #2 September 8, 2004 Pro-rated? No problem. If you can land in "an out" area then that would be comparable. It's bigger tahn the spot at the Retirement village that I landed in JUMPTOWN_______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/

mr2mk1g 10 #4 September 8, 2004 It's my old university. Bottom right hand corner is a roundabout. A road leads from it up the right hand side of the photo. Trees are to the left of the road. To the left of the trees is a grass gully with a tiny streem in the bottom of it. (brown/green wiggly strip) That's the PLA, so long as the wind's blowing up or down it anyway... otherwise we abort and land with the plane and only the professional demo jumpers carry on. Yes I have the UK equivalent of my pro rating.

Brains 2 #7 September 8, 2004 QuoteThat's a HUGE area! That is what i was thinking too. Here is a tight area we set down in last year It is a cable wakeboard lake with an island in the middle. The cable is about 25 feet inside the lake(marked in black) and it is about 20 feet off the water. They told us it was $8,000.00 if we hit it and broke it. Side note: I bet clay could land there in the dark, they got goats on the island now. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. mr2mk1g 10 #8 September 8, 2004 Yup, it's plenty big enough and should be plenty easy. The bigger problem than the area itself is simply the fact that it's a gully surrounded by trees so only really safe to land in if the wind follows it. That and the complete lack of outs. There are fields the other side of a dual carriageway but the national grid runs between the PLA and them. As I said - it'll be fine

BillyVance 34 #11 September 9, 2004 Looks doable, but of course it could be tricky with all the contours and slopes. Definitely something I would only jump into with a 7 cell canopy lightly loaded... On the other hand, the smallest demo LZ I've ever done was the sand beach at a wave pool at Visionland, which is kind of like a mini 6 Flags/water park combo. The LZ was about 20 yards wide by 40 yards long, with NO OUTS. Landed right through the middle, phew! The pay was pretty good though. RevJim 0 #12 September 9, 2004 The cable would get my attention, that's for sure, but size wise, I see no real problem with landing on that chunk of land. I guess that comes from landing on a grass runway, and nowhere else during my student days. It's your life, live it!
