AggieDave 6 #3 August 31, 2004 I'm stuck in this sport for a long time. If I quit now I'll be pissed off at myself since I didn't accomplish even 1/2 of the goals I want to accomplish yet.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." mouth 0 #9 September 1, 2004 Quitting is not on my agenda at the moment and I don't see it in the forseeable future. PhreeZone 20 #12 September 1, 2004 You know if some one offered you unlimited L39 rides to give up jumping I bet you'd think long and hard huh? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skybill 22 #13 September 1, 2004 Hi Cheese, 'Still got my rig, my PCA (oh that's USPA these daze) is current, 'been jumpin' 40 years now. 'Guess I'll hang around. I don't jump as much as I used to in Ca. but quit? Why? I've noticed a few posts lately by people who want to give it up for various personal reasons eg. broken bones, other people going in, etc. Oh well. That's their gig. To me, skydiving is not just a "sport," it's been my life. So, I'm not quitting either!!! I guess we'll be the last two on the DZ doing 2-ways, unless we drag the pilot out for a 3-way!!SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
cvfd1399 0 #14 September 1, 2004 me too I am drawn to it. Once my rig is jumpable I will be in the air more often
Evelyn 0 #15 September 1, 2004 Skydiving is what I look forward to every weekend. I can't imagine ever quitting. I thought maybe I'd have to quit when I got really old, but last weekend I jumped with some really old guys, like in their 80's. I think there was some kind of old fart reunion at the DZ. Anyway, I was kind of worried jumping with these old guys, like maybe they'd have a heart attack on the jump, and damned if one of them didn't give me a kiss pass as soon as we were in freefall. sunshine 2 #16 September 1, 2004 I'm not quitting, but i have slowed down a bit. I realize there is more to life than jumping. I think it's a shame when people are so obsessed they pass up family time or other important things. If it's a beautiful day perfect for jumping, but i've made prior commitments to go play with my nephews....well i'll give up a day of jumping, cause my nephews are way more important. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I totally agree with you, that you have to put the rest of your life ahead of jumping, but when it's a beautiful day and you have no other plans then you should be jumping. shellybellyfly 0 #21 September 1, 2004 I suck at it so far... on level 4 AFF with 8 jumps. But I'm not quitting! I'm addicted... Even broke up with my whuffo boyfriend because I want to spend 24/7 of my weekends at the dz!
freeflir29 0 #22 September 1, 2004 I just spent $210 at Comp USA for an external DVD RW drive. (The DVD is burning as we speak on another computer) For the sole purpose of burning my WFFC video and sending it to Michael. No......I don't have a problem.....I can stop whenever I want. Skydiving has had to make some fairly serious concessions in the past couple years but I certainly spend as much time jumping as I can. Wish I could be there more....but I'm a greedy bastard and like my paycheck too. It reminds me of that commercial about cocaine addiction that was on some years ago. "I work more so I can have money to skydive. Then I skydive and need more money.....so I work more.......so I then I can skydive more...." You see where this is going. Hopefully I'll make it through winter and spring without breaking myself on my new canopy.
PhreeZone 20 #23 September 1, 2004 >Sorry, my life revolves around skydiving unless I have other plans Mine did too, but I out grew that stage finally.
