Jib 0 #2 August 27, 2004 Kallend, what powers of deductive reasoning led you to the World Champions are decided by the Olympics? It's not like we sent in the A-team. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Zenister 0 #3 August 27, 2004 the Olympics is as close as you can get to a "world competition" the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL etc... are only North America... no matter how often they mistakenly claim to be "World Champions"____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. CanuckInUSA 0 #4 August 27, 2004 QuoteKallend, what powers of deductive reasoning led you to the World Champions are decided by the Olympics? It's not like we sent in the A-team. But at the same time what gives these North American professional teams from certain sports the rights to call themselves World Champions? By the way, the true hockey World Champion will be crowned next month as Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany will be playing in the up and coming World Championship hockey tournament. I always laugh when an NHL, MLB and/or NBA team call themselves World Champions. The only sport I can stomache when they say this is the NFL as the only other country competing with athletes of their own is Canada and well you know what would happen if the US put their best up against Canada's best in football. Very funny logic you're using there. I said nothing about who SHOULD be called World Champions, only who SHOULD NOT. I don't think Argentine teams are even allowed to compete in the NBA, please correct me if I'm wrong.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. lawrocket 3 #8 August 27, 2004 I agree with kallend. Sounds facially disingenuous to call the winner of the National Basketball Association the World Champions. Maybe if it called itself the WBA it would be more accurate. Let's face it - the US probably breeds some of the best hoops players in the world. They are also some of the most selfish, egotistical athletes in the world. I'm glad we got our asses whooped in the Olympics. Perhaps it'll teach those guys that teamwork doesn't mean "dissin' my skills." My wife is hotter than your wife.

flyhi 24 #10 August 27, 2004 Personally, I don't think Larry Brown did that great a job, either. With Lithuania killing them with the outside shot it took him until the last minute to figure out the full court press. What up with that?Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics. CanuckInUSA 0 #13 August 27, 2004 QuoteJust like hockey (how many are actually from the US) I don't have time to do a thorough search, but I found these stats of the number of players from each country. Please keep in mind that the NHL is an ever changing entity with players being drafted, players being promoted and demoted to and from the minors and players retiring. But it will give you a rough idea as to the demographics of the different nationalities which make up the NHL. Canada 285, USA 137, Sweden 67, Russia 56, Czech Republic 56, Finland 22, Belarus 9, Slovakia 6, Norway 5, Latvia 4, Switzerland 4 and the Ukraine 3. That would be kick ass, but I don't think it'll happen QuoteProduction had been scheduled tentatively to start sometime in the spring of 2001. There's no current word about when this might get started.
tunaplanet 0 #20 August 27, 2004 QuoteI don't think it'll happen If they can do, 'The Seed of Chucky' they can do the fucking A-Team. It's not like hollywood is picky nowadays on the garbage they dish out. Forty-two
ozthebum 0 #21 August 27, 2004 Have to disagree there....Lately, Hollywood seems to be happy to make shity movies, if they know they can rake in some cash, but if it's a good idea and taking a risk, then they seem to take way to long puting it into action, if they ever do. (example--Jimmy Buffet's "Where is Joe Murchant?", Indiana Jones 4, etc.) PS--Sorry to hi-jack.
SBS 0 #22 August 28, 2004 These guys have NO business being called "The Dream Team". They don't even hold a candle to the real Dream Team. It's disrespectful to what those guys accomplished. -S Oh, and I have to add this, after hearing yet another interview with them... "These guys are volunteering their time..." WTF??? Yeah, it's all for us...apparently, it's doesn't mean much to them to be there, it's all for us that they are "volunteering". There was an Argentinian guy that was interviewed that had a good point..."Player for player, these guys are the best...but this isn't one on one." Hey...maybe if they had...hmmm...PRACTICED??? GRRR!!!!_____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...
