Slappie 9 #1 August 26, 2004 First off I've had problems with my credit. I went through a long term relationship. We had joint accts etc.. When we broke up I wound up with alot of debt. Some of it I was able and more then willing to work with the creditors to resolve. Others didn't want to work with me so I blew them off. Then Midland shows it's evil satan spawn head.... I have a major problem with bottom feeding scavangers like: Midland Credit Management San Diego 5775 Roscoe Ct. San Diego, CA 92123-1356 Phone: (858) 560-2600 Toll Free: (877) 445-4581 Phoenix: 4302 E. Broadway Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85040-8808 Phone: (602) 707-0211 Toll Free: (800) 265-8825 They purchase uncollected debt, then throw it back on your credit report as new debt. Claiming they are the creditors. They are not the original creditors. So it adds ANOTHER mark against you. After they've secured themselves on your Credit Report (all 3 majors) They call you asking you to pay this debt. They are a clearing house that buys old debt from charged off accts. Trying to talk to them or work with them in anyway is pure frustration. Fucking asshole comes to mind when I try to describe them. I have tried filing disputes with the reporting agencies. To no avail, they're as hardheaded an uncaring as Midland. *scream major obsenities* Beware if you have any old debt and your trying to wait it out. Seven years is the norm, cept in a bankruptcy cases. Which is normally ten years. Watch out for these fucknutz. They can and WILL screw your reports up with a massive anal raping. DAMN I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!! I wish there was just something a little guy could do and not get thrown in jail. chaoskitty 0 #2 August 26, 2004 Looks like you're going to have to fake your own death. That'll teach 'em.. Credit is evil and collectors are the spawn of Satan (sorry boboso..)
PhillyKev 0 #3 August 26, 2004 QuoteBeware if you have any old debt and your trying to wait it out. Seven years is the norm, See, that's where you got yourself into trouble. It stays on your credit report for seven years from when you finally satisfy it. Most people don't understand that and think they can get away with avoiding the creditor for seven years and then they'll be in the clear. You have to pay it off first, then wait the seven years. QuoteDAMN I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!! I wish there was just something a little guy could do and not get thrown in jail. No offense meant, and I like you, Slappie, but there is something you can do. Pay your bills.
Slappie 9 #4 August 26, 2004 QuoteLooks like you're going to have to fake your own death. That'll teach 'em.. IF that was easier said then done I probably would try it. BUT it's also against the law in most states. "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." ScubaSteve 0 #5 August 26, 2004 One thing you can do is mail small payment amounts at a regular basis. That really pisses them off. They have to reports regular pay, mments on dent and you dont look like a deadbeat.
CrazyIvan 0 #6 August 26, 2004 That's all a scam, a friend of mine had a similar problem, he sent some money and then PAID OFF his debt, shortly after that, another letter came from somewhere else CLAIMING he STILL owed some more money, a scam I tell you. Fuck, change your SSN number. __________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
Slappie 9 #7 August 26, 2004 Some great ideas, but all are pretty much going to throw me in jail. I have NO PLANS what so ever of paying these scavanging bottom feeding feltching bastards!! Is there anything LEGAL I can do to: 1. Get them to quit calling me at the office 2. Get their bogus reports off my credit reports 3. #$^$^@#$!^&)@#$&^@)$*&^@$%^ censored because I would probably go to jail. indyz 1 #9 August 26, 2004 You can send them a drop-dead letter -- you acknowledge that you owe them money, and by law they have to stop calling you -- but if these guys are the assholes that you make them out to be, they probably won't obey it. It's already on my reports as CrossCountry Bank.. I never borrowed money from Midland Credit.. They've added a BOGUS report to the agencies. They are not even a COLLECTION AGENCY. They are a Clearing House. they buy old accts from charged off creditors and bring them back to life. Reporting to the agencies should NOT be allowed period, if they are not the ORIGINAL Creditor. PhillyKev 0 #11 August 26, 2004 Another thing you could do is write the credit bureaus and dispute it. That company will have to respond to them within a certain time period or they have to remove it from your credit report. Even if they do and it stays on there, there will be a comment that you dispute it which could help you if you go to get credit and someone actually review it. Bodyflight.Net 0 #12 August 26, 2004 I have had years of practice with this sort of thing.. ex husband was irresponsible and my now husband's ss# is nearly identical to his brother whos names are nearly identical as well, caused LOTS of problems.. Chances are, this is all really a mistake, a paperwork glitch, unfortunatlely, it doesn't feel like that. I know What you have to do to get these off your reports is to deal with the REPORTING AGENCY. There are forms, different ones from each agency, that you have to fill out for an investigation.. it takes time and diligence, but if your truly in the right, you'll get through it. Turns out a couple of our things ended up truly being ours.. but when your blood is boiling it's hard to think clearly. They SAY it's supposed to resolve within a couple of months, but honestly, but it took nearly an entire year to really straighten things out for me... always missing people, more lost forms, no answer here, etc. There are procedures, and also agencies online that will do this hard work for you, if you so desire.. but I'm a do-it-yourselfer and wouldn't hear of such a thing myself. Good luck and be patient, you will need it. I do think the drop dead letter is fine, make sure you send any correspondance with a return receipt requested, signature required. I hate the Credit Demons. Wish I had a vanquishing spell for them!

Phillbo 11 #16 August 26, 2004 Asset Sales are big business these days. They bought your debt for pennies on the dollar. Make them and offer to pay it off for a greatly reduced amount. You'll be suprised how low you can drive them down...

You'll be suprised how low you can drive them down... When they weren't being total jackoffs to me I offered to pay it off at a greatly reduced amount. When I couldn't do it RIGHT THEN over the phone the operator got pissed off. So I got defensive got into an argument, he spewed his little "have to say" spiel and hungup on me. This was all before I knew they had tagged my reports, so I was still in a "lets make a deal" mood. I have since decided I will not negosiate with a company whos ethics & tactics are this underhanded. Do your research and make sure you know the credit laws better than they do, otherwise it could be painful if the collector gets tired of dealing with you and passes it off to the legal side.----- ~~~Michael
sunshine 2 #19 August 26, 2004 Be careful Slappie. One of my duties here at work is to process court papers for garnishing employees wages. The court papers come in and i have no choice but to take it out of people's income. Some of the court orders i get are a few years old. It does take that long for them to go through the court process. This may end up biting you in the butt in a few years. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! PhillyKev 0 #20 August 26, 2004 QuoteWhen I couldn't do it RIGHT THEN over the phone the operator got pissed off. That's because most likely it's a minimum wage employee on an automatic dialer whose bonus or compensation is based on money collected from the phone calls he makes and gets docked if he stays on a call for more than 3 minutes without getting promise of a payment. That's how it worked when I worked as one. Call them yourself, ask to talk to a supervisor. They're able to deal with you without those concerns. You have to proactively take care of it will haunt you forever. I had shit ass credit for years, couldn't even get financed for a $300 mattress. Got my act together, paid off my old bills, kept up with new ones and a few years later I have outstanding credit. Just takes some organization and persistence and you can clear it all up. Funny thing is once when I was sitting on the automatic dialer that pops up the name of the debtor when they answer the phone, my name popped up and I listened to my own answering machine
