Spatula 0 #51 July 29, 2004 I got lucky, no degree but military experience put me in PM role, making more than I should be, BUT it's not what I want to do. It's an interm step towards my degree's and future career. So I guess my job is ok. I sit at my desk, listen to music, surg dz.com all day...get a lot of work done, and come and go as I please (pretty much).

Jday3 0 #53 July 29, 2004 Sometimes its good - sometimes sucks! I work on commission selling investments and doing financial planning - its ok but I hate sitting in a office all day!! The good thing is the pay can be really great or it can be bad.
Icon134 0 #54 July 29, 2004 I use to enjoy my job... it kept me busy and I was progressivly gaining more responsibility... but then the chief engineer changed and said "I've done enough for the program." and I needed to let someone else try for a while. so I found myself thrown to the curb working in a lab with a bunch of people that are experts in they're field and here I am wondering, wtf am I doing... not to mention that I wanted to change jobs at the begining of the year... but that has appeared to fizzle out. until about a week ago... now it appears I might change jobs.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Jeth 0 #55 July 29, 2004 I HATE MY JOB!!!!!! Ok, to clarify, I love what I do (software development), I just hate doing it here. And I knew this job was gonna be shitty as soon as I started. They lied to me about how much vacation time I'd get and other benefits and then I was too stupid to get it in writing. I work in a dictatorship. It's a small software company and the owner is a total dickhead. He treats everyone like shit and doesn't think twice about it. 2 years ago he cut the company match on the health insurance by half, last year he took away our 1 floating holiday, this year he cut our regular holidays. He gives us some bullshit about how the company needs to cut costs, but thats total horseshit cause the bookeeper says he's a fuckin millionaire and we're bringing in tons of money every month! The only good thing is that my boss pretty much leaves me alone so I just surf dz.com all day. But I hope to find a better job someday very soon. JustaBill 0 #56 July 29, 2004 Only thing I can say is be careful what you wish for...you just might get it. All I ever wanted to do when I was a kid was be a train engineer. It was cool for about 2 weeks. I don't have any kind of schedule, the phone rings and I have 2 hours to get to work. I have no scheduled days off. Work all weekends and holidays. Last year they said they weren't gonna run anything after 3 pm on Christmas Eve, Well at 7pm my phone rings for some bullshit train that didn't have to run. The place where it was going was shut down for the holiday, it could have waited. Only way to get a day off is to fake an illness, it really sucks. Gone for 2 or 3 days at a time, miss a lot of little league and school programs. But the work isn't all that hard and the pay is pretty good, not to mention the retirement. And we are too used to making what I make now so it would be really hard to take a pay cut. And about the only thing I'd be qualified for is factory work, so I'm pretty well screwed.------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever
MyOwnWay 0 #57 July 29, 2004 I can't complain too much, just about the heat. Hanging around Skydive Arizona 5 days a week is the only job i have ever had that i don't dread going to, and then counting down the hours until i leave. in other words, i like my job _________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau
gordy 0 #58 August 26, 2004 Currently my job is too far away from what I like doing, and is providing no challenge at all, so I would have to say, no I don't like it...
skydiverton 0 #59 August 26, 2004 QuoteLike it sometimes (busines-trips) for the rest ... Well it pays alright. In each case it pays more than I can make with full-time (tandem) jumping in the netherlands. Ok I'm a senior design engineer Landing Gear, so all my bussines-trips go to helicopter and airplane builders (No free jumps out of prototype airplanes till now) I meant "I liked" my job. Company went bankrupt last week. They are talking about a takeover now. We will see. By the way the weather is bad too, so no tandems. That really sucks Greetings ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
BGill 0 #60 August 26, 2004 I love my job! I get to make and drink smoothies all day long, and when I'm not doing that I'm teaching people about nutritional supplements since I'm the "go-to" guy for that at my job. Being right next to my college campus is cool too cuz I can walk to work, and it's a very social atmosphere. It's right across the street from the bars, so there's nothing better than getting no cover and free drinks for giving away a few free smoothies every now and then Pay isn't bad for a college job seeing as how I've been there for 3 years. I make significantly more than everyone else there. Haha! Oh god, I'll have to enter the real world soon. Crap. Ah well, better enjoy it while I can!
