Kbone 0 #1 August 21, 2004 I am a huge Simpsons fan! I’m interested in your thoughts…… The Simpsons are normally on 3 times daily where I live. My problem? I wish they would put a 10-year cap on these reruns so I don’t have to watch anything created before 1994! The problem with these ancient episodes is that the comedy is very dated; the animation looks like chicken scratch and the characters don’t even look the same. It is clear that they had a pretty low budget to work with in those days. I hear the voices of the characters now make half a million per episode. I’m sick of seeing Santa’s little helper at the dog track and Homer jumping Springfield Gorge on a skateboard. Last night I had to endure 3 really old episodes where Homer goes to capital city to be the mascot. These are really old episodes! Memo to Matt Groening (creator of the Simpsons) quit trying to use your status to create half rate spin-offs. Does Futurama ring a bell? Yes it got cancelled because it sucks that bad! The Simpsons are a once in a lifetime accomplishment. Quit trying to go for 2 loser! Focus on your cash cow. Family Guy rules!

ChasingBlueSky 0 #5 August 21, 2004 I enjoy the older Simpsons! I find the differances funny! Plus, how can you not enjoy the mascot episode??? Also - Futurama should never have been canceled! That is a great show and I try to catch that and Family guy on Adult Swim as much as possible._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... lawrocket 3 #7 August 21, 2004 Dude, wouldn't you rather avoid Simpsons episodes past about 1999? The quality of the animation increased, but th equality of the show has plummeted... My wife is hotter than your wife.

I have to admit, around 2001/2002 I was getting a little worried that the Simpsons were losing it. I heard that they hired all new script writers around this period. This last season wasn't so bad though.

If at first you succeed, quit and stay home on the couch?? What kind of attitude is that? Personally I have more respect for those who will try a new concept than merely milk a cash cow. Shows tend to die out anyway when their owners take that approach - it becomes bland and inofffensive. Futurama was fine, if with less universal appeal. Fox has cancelled numerous shows that had quality, if not the ratings - Andy Ritcher and the one with Eugene Levy and the bunny come to mind. TV is a fickle business. McDuck 0 #13 August 24, 2004 Dude, Futurama was/is (on DVD) some truly edgy, gut-busting stuff. If you enjoy the Simpsons and how oulandish it can be, how could you not like Bender the obnoxious, booze swilling, cigar smoking angst machine? I'm with Matt, I think that people were just sick and tired of all of the cartoons out there. Family Guy was cancelled because the networks kept moving their slot and nobody could find them. Now that DVD sales have shown the PTB's (Powers That Be) at the networks how incredibly popular Family Guy was, it's being brought back in October as a regular series again. By the way, Seth Macfarlane is my hero. Regardless, Futurama has enough of a following that they are seeing decent DVD sales themselves. Plus, Futurama gave us such classic one-liners as "Negative, bossy meat-creature," "Jam a bastard in it, you crap," "I'm a fraud, a poor, lazy, sexy fraud," "I'm doomed to drift through space forever with barely any swag," and many others that can be readily incorporated into daily life. So they've got THAT going for them...which is nice.
