mraardvark 0 #1 August 24, 2004 Hello everyone in skyland! Just to give you an update on Joan that had the accident in Monroe , Ga. at Skydive Monroe. Joan is able to carry on rational conversation but does drift off at times. She apparently will not have to have any surgeries on her broken bones! Her right eye is lazy but we hope it will come around without surgery. All of her vital organs are ok and her brains scan is clear. She has a long road ahead and is still in a lot of pain. I have to have surgery on my wrist this Thursday from the accident. No big deal just ligaments, tendons, and a fracture. Nothing like the shape Joan is in. People, please check your altimeters! Thanks so much for your generous donations and please give as you can. It will be a long time before Joan can earn any money on her own. Thanks so much for your prayers. I plan to see you in the sky in a few weeks! Charles Please contact me personally with any questions. My name is Charles Pharr Jr. Thanks so much for your help! I assure you, all funds will go to Joan and her family! charles@aardvark-antiques.com cell 770-540-1939 home 770-534-0909 office 770-534-6611 Please send funds to: Joan Meadow Recovery Fund c/o Branch Bank & Trust PO BOX 2342 Gainesville, Ga 30503Thanks for reading! wildblue 7 #2 August 24, 2004 Who is Joan? What happened? And isn't this like the 14th time you've posted this?it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
chaoskitty 0 #3 August 24, 2004 It was posted in Incidents, and he has basically said what happened. She is a fellow jumper who has been in intesive care for about four weeks. Shes pulling through, Thank God. Charles doesnt post regularly in the forums, but he is just trying to give us an update on Joan's condition. Don't be so insensitive because you don't know her. And dont get all pissy because he is asking for donations either. If someone "popular" on the forums or in swooping, freefly, etc.. got hurt, we'd all band together and hold a raffle or a boogie for them.. nobody is doing that for Joan, so hes forced to ask. You dont have to contribute if you dont feel the need. Geez people. Nice "community".
wildblue 7 #4 August 24, 2004 Easy killer, I'm not trying to be pissy, I'm trying to be helpful. Christ you people are touchy today... Something like: "My friend Joan" (because not everyone in the world knows who Joan is) "was injured, read about it here (insert link to original story)" then follow with the 'update'. Or better yet, post the update in the original thread so people can follow along. All I remember is seeing this (almost) same thing more than twice before, and being confused then too.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
chaoskitty 0 #5 August 24, 2004 Ok.. sorry. But realize that Charles isn't exactly forum-savvy, and every time he has posted, or cross-posted or whatever, people have jumped all over him instead of helping him. I'm just sticking up for the little guy, as usual. Point is, Joan is no longer in a coma.
