WFFC 1 #52 August 19, 2004 Leave him alone. He's just upset I posted an article that had SDC and something bad associated to the name (probably just a major freak of nature that it happened there though). I personally don't believe that SDC is involved with this at all - Roger probably learned his lesson and passed that on to the kids. The only reason it was posted to begin with was that some nitwits landed at SDC. I've since been told that the original two were associated with SDC at some point. One was a parttime pilot/tandem master, the other the fireworks dude. It's funny how some people you think you know, you really don't know them at all.----- ~~~Michael

It jumps out at you because the airport name is "Skydive Chicago". Had it happened at any other airport with a DZ on it, the DZ name would not have appeared in the newspaper article. An unintended consequence of naming an airport after a DZ.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

bertusgeert 1 #56 August 19, 2004 A crapload of dope was confiscatred the other day a few miles away from here, and it got me thinking. (It was more than two truckloads full of it, about 1.5 Mil. in bricks.) When I'm sitting on the lawnmower for a few hours, I'm always contemplating some idea on how to distribute in better and smarter ways. So here is my idea for transporting - tell me what you think. Step 1: Take off in a rental plane, fly somewhere in normal fashion, preferably a smaller uncontrolled field so you wont be noticed. Do a touch and go, but stay low to keep below radar (in mountainous terrain). It will then not be suspicious flight anymore, since you simply took off and landed somewhere else. Step 2 - version 1 - Go to a private strip and do the pickup. Then just do a normal flight - dont stay low, if they see you pop in and out, it will be more suspicious. (whereas being low without and dope on board is not a big deal.) Step 2 - version 2 - Meet another plane in midflight where one person hangs off of the wing to give the cable to another doing the same, then connect the cable and do a midair load change. Ste 3 - fly somewhere and get a few "TM's" to go for a jump. Step 4 - the plane reverses it's flight path. So if I someday buy you more than one jump, you will know how I afforded it! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! No one can make you change it except the big red fork and he doesn't have time for such trivial stuff. But, it would be nice if you had your real info in those slots. Also, there really was no need to flame Mike back a few posts. I think that may be she pointed out that your shorts were down. Just a thought. And since you keep responding to posts that have nothing to do with whom you are talking to (replying to Bo when you are posting to Mar) you might want to check things out until you have the hang of things around here. Chris edit: Seems you flamed WFFC and not JRock like I originally put. Sorry, you're just hard to follow I guess.
freeflir29 0 #62 August 19, 2004 QuoteReally? How? Here's all I can say about SDC. I went there Monday. What a beautiful place. Nicest DZ I have been to since Perris. SDC is a HUGE facility with 2 nice Otters sitting there. It was Monday and I think they put up 5 loads that were MOSTLY tandems and AFF. Usually only 5 slots or so left for fun jumpers. With a DZ that big with that much business why in the world would ANYONE need to take a risk like having a plane load of drugs land on YOUR OWN RUNWAY. Kinda stupid if you ask me. Especially given the reputation and rumor, deserved or not, surrounding SDC. There are hundreds maybe even THOUSANDS of grass and paved private strips to land on. Why pick there? Doesn't make sense. SDC is a GREAT place and I can't wait until I get the chance to go back. Leave your freakin politics at home. Brought to you by "My .02"
JoeyRamone 0 #63 August 19, 2004 Leave your freaking politics at home. *** AMEN. Roger was a dam good friend of mine and many others. He did his time, paid the price and moved on. Rook and Missy are taking the place to another level, they are not in the drug business, and they are in the skydiving business. I do not like to hear people slam them or become a shit starter just to be a prick and make waves. So unless you have the proof or know these people like I do, don’t be a prick. This post is for all the haters out their. Don’t blame them for some other jerks bad decissions

wildblue 7 #68 August 19, 2004 QuoteThere is no histroy of any drugs at SDC I about fell out of my chair at that one! EDIT: Ok, let me clarify: had you just said "There's no history of people being caught running drugs at SDC" -- that would have been an accurate statement. The way you put it just struck me as funny. I like SDC, it's an awesome place with some cool people. They just have a history and a stigma attached there, and these guys probably just fucked a lot of the clean-up effort.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

WTS is also in the boondocks, but close to a large metro area. Same thing could have happened there. I'm not picking on SDC, just relaying the information that's been provided. Does anyone know the guy (#3) arrested in TX? It's hard to say that SDC does not have a history of illegal substances. Roger was (is) SDC. The things he did in his past are part of that history. He did his time and, I would assume, taught the kids better than the road he chose. Experience is the best teacher.----- ~~~Michael

ChasingBlueSky 0 #73 August 19, 2004 Is there really a point to letting this thread continue anymore other than to start more rumors? Let the facts come out, then talk about it. Anything else is just more useless "as the prop turns" and anything goes in that scenario. There are people that will let an incident like this fuel their biased hatred. Let them live in that little world of theirs, and hopefully they will stay away from us. Let this thread die._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... Same thing could have happened there I know, and its kinda scary because we also located between 2 little airports. We had a situation a few weekends ago where a prisoner escaped from the prison not that far from the dz. The Sheriff's dept showed up wanted to fly around in the airplane (cessna) to look for the guy. He was in prison for 1st degree murder and rape of an 81 year old woman. He was found at the landfill a day later. JudyBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
