turtlespeed 226 #6 August 12, 2004 I just looked at the satellite for the area - it doesn't look that bad. Is Charley even a LOW level tropical storm?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
skymama 37 #7 August 12, 2004 QuoteIs Charley even a LOW level tropical storm? Charley got upgraded to a hurricane yesterday. It could be the worst central FL has seen since 1960. It all depends on where it hits on the coastline whether it hits us or not. It's coming on Friday the 13th....ooooh, scary! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

PLFXpert 0 #9 August 12, 2004 Thanks, arlo! I'm one of those "it will not happen to me" people. I've lived in Florida my whole life, and on the beach for three years. I know one day it might bite me in the bootie, but I really never prepare for these things. I might fill a tub with water, we always have batteries and a full pantry, and hurricanes don't last 5-7 days, so I can't imagine why you would need to stock up that much. I would say three days MAX. Anywho...follow arlo's lead, not mine Better safe than sorry.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Galen 0 #11 August 12, 2004 It could be a CAT 2 hurricane by the time it makes landfall in Florida. I'm about 10 to 15 miles from the Gulf Coast. Anyone want to come to a party at my place?

wildblue 7 #13 August 12, 2004 Quoteand hurricanes don't last 5-7 days, so I can't imagine why you would need to stock up that much. I would say three days MAX. Because if it's widespread flooding and destruction, there might not be any nearby/open/accessible stores. The hurricane doesn't last 5-7 days, but the effects sure do!it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

marcandalysse 0 #18 August 12, 2004 i have my 2 kayaks ready...not that I will want to go anywhere in that mess...even with a 'normal storm' last september, we were kayaking down our street! back in the 80's in denver, we got so much snow over christmas eve that the 10 of us at the christmas party got snowed in for a few days....it got to the point we had to make turkey soup from the leftover bones....didn't devolve to the point of cannibalism though....then when some stores opened, we crosscountry skied to the liquor store and stocked up... Luna 0 #19 August 12, 2004 QuoteI just looked at the satellite for the area - it doesn't look that bad. Is Charley even a LOW level tropical storm? Are you sure you're not looking at Bonnie? Because she never reached hurricane, and that is what is over Florida right now. But Charley is a Cat 2 hurricane and definitely looks like a hurricane. He's still down in the carribbean right now, but should reach the Keys later today. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
