Do you speak skydiver?

Recommended Posts

Hucklebuck, as in "He gave me the hucklebuck"

When someone screws up a formation, crashes into you in freefall, or does any undesirable action to you.

Thats college talk, not skydiver talk

I've seen it in students unions, I've seen it in DZ bars. The students union probably had worse, umm, 'results'.:S

Edit: But yeah the proper skydiver definition is usually a heck of a lot more funB|
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Hi PC,
Snivel, #2. What your parachute is doing when it has exceeded its' "normal" opening time!!!:o

Hum job, Hummer (not the vehicle), Hummit'. What you are doing when you 'Intentionally" exceed normal opening altitude and go noticably low!! Most impressive when a loud "Yahoo" is heard on the ground from the participant before chucking their pilotchute!!:P

Pud, the object attached to the top of your hand deployed pilot chute for the purpose of securing a grip for deployment as in, "Pull your PUD!!!!:$

Whuffo, Contraction for "What for" in the Southern dialect. On the DZ the comment usually heard from curious "Hayseed" spectators,"Hey bowah, 'whuffo' you jump outta' dem par-shoots huh?????" Hence spectators are "Whuffos."

Frappe, A Northeastern U.S. term for an icecream milkshake. In Skydiving, same as Bounce.

Asshole! - you should know this one, but if not, just yell it out loud in the plane ;)

err, maybe it should've been 'Hey Asshole!'?

Penetration - the ground of speed of a parachute when pointed antiparallel to the wind direction.
Spanking - a very fast inflation of the parachute when deployed, resulting in discomfort and possibly pain to the skydiver.
Horny Gorilla - a type of linked exit typically done by freeflyers.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

"Suck it down/low" = same as humming (during the skydive = low pull. After the beer light comes on: go get a hotel room, we don't wanna see that sh*t.)

"Industrial haze" = fluffy mist :$;)

"PC in tow" = during the skydive, Pilot Chute fails to pull the closing pin/extract the bag; VERY DANGEROUS B|...I also refer to having a "PC in tow" when I bring my daughter out to the DZ...PC = Precocious Child...;)

"Grab the handles" (often accompanied by a hand motion) = Lets get the hell out of here.

(This is a two-fold meaning thing here. "Grabbing the handles" in skydiving usually means getting rid of something that's useless to you. ie. your newly malfunctioning main. "Grabbing the handles" in jet fighters means "ejecting", which is a similar but not matching connotation to cutting away..)

Neck-cracker = A unusually hard opening.

slot = any space you occupy

This one actually bleeds over. A group of us going out one night, me to one of the drivers: "You have an open slot?" - he was a jumper too, and didn't even realize what I said until others started looking at me funny and I started laughing.
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

The hand motions associated with this also can mean to break up with or get rid of significant other:):D:D

i.e. "What happened?" make motion of cutting away. "Oh i see, so i guess you will be jumping more now huh";);)

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
