2fat2fly 0 #26 August 12, 2004 I just found out that my company is going to pay for me to get my private pilot ticket. Problem...If it's nice enough to fly-who wants to land with the plane. Maybe I can take lessons on really cold days.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
diverdriver 5 #27 August 12, 2004 QuoteFor my pilot solo, by instructor jumped out, so I had a solo landing before a solo take-off. After I got tired of jumping, I flew loads to fill in the time. I was flying jumpers before I took the checkride. Nope, not gonna take that hook. If you actually did this... you have no clue how much danger your instructor and you are putting yourself in. Damn it! I took it anyway! pppttuuuhhh pppppttttuuuuuhhh...... bad hook.Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
diverdriver 5 #28 August 12, 2004 Pilot first. Skydiver second. Did my first jump after flying loads for two months. Wanted to see what the other side was like. Did one IAD jump and was hooked. Had to do that again.Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
Steel 0 #29 August 12, 2004 QuoteJust curious since I started my flight training...how many of you who are out there are also pilots? Which is your first "love"? I found that although nothing matched the experience of my three jumps, I find both peace and relaxation at the controls. Share your thoughts? Private pilot, single engine land since Nov/96. Last time current May/03. That sucks but its not free and I got to go with my priorities. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.

Maybe I can take lessons on really cold days. Assuming you have a heated hangar for pre-flighting the plane, cold days are the Best for flying No nasty thermals... and the Plane Loves to fly in the cold. Sounds like a great plan GOOD luck !! And What a Job Perk!!! Wish I could get my company to pay for my instrument rating ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ earthbound misfit
botmans 0 #31 August 12, 2004 Pilot first, got my RPL (Recreational Pilots License, same as PPL but you can only fly within the country) 4 years ago and got my PPL SEP 2 years ago. Got about 120 hours now, including some aerobatic training. But every time I came back from a flight and having a few beers at the airfield I was watching the parachutes coming down, I wanted to start AFF. But no money for it... My mom&dad gave me the AFF course for my b-day, So I took a course in France (I'm from the Netherlands) because it's cheaper there and my parents live there. Made 7 jumps so far (bad weather when I was there), going back there next week to do my last jumps to get my A license. But I already know I'll be flying alot less and jumping instead,
freeflyguy 0 #32 August 12, 2004 Ah heck, I'll play. 4 years ago, I was either going to get a pilots license, or skydive. ONCE. oops, should have started with the license. But, as a result of skydiving, I have my pilots license, love to fly, and especially, love to land it. I'll likely eventually fly jumpers, but mostly for fun. That Caravan is a kick to fly. Her is my latest shop project. www.northwindrigging.com/fisher/fp303.htm I'm sure I'll soon have some video of some sort of stupid skydiver tricks with it. ---------------------------- bzzzz
