airtwardo 7 #1 August 12, 2004 So I'm watching the news a few hours ago... GULP! My better 1/2, a 777 pilot, Who happened to be leaving for London this afternoon... Fortunately different airline... HOUSTON — Nobody was hurt Wednesday afternoon when a British Airways jet bound for London safely returned to Bush Intercontinental Airport because of an engine fire. The Boeing 777 had departed Bush Intercontinental Airport when the pilots detected fumes in the cockpit, according to airport spokesman Roger Smith. The pilots determined there was a fire in the left engine and returned to the airport. The fire was quickly put out by emergency personnel on the ground, Smith said. The plane was carrying approximately 130 passengers, who were evacuated onto the tarmac. The plane was headed for London's Gatwick Airport, according to Smith.Passengers were being rerouted. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

FunBobby 0 #5 August 12, 2004 Come to think of it, others have more recently successfully repeated that feat with a larger aircraft. clicky FunBobby

I bet some other choice words were uttered in that cockpit as well. Other than poor math skills, those pilots really kicked ass on that landing!!!NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
