councilman24 37 #1 January 20, 2010 Okay, please riggers only, any country. I'd like to get an un-scientific sampling of how many riggers never do a round. I have my reasons for asking that I won't get into for now. Maybe later. Thanks,I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
likestojump 3 #2 January 20, 2010 How about I pack a few rounds per year ?

councilman24 37 #4 January 20, 2010 That's what I get for doing it this time of night. But I guess I can't edit the poll answers?I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
koppel 4 #5 January 20, 2010 yupI like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
drjump 0 #6 January 20, 2010 I repack about 50 to 75 round pilot emergency rigs a year. I've only seen about 5 round chext reserves in the last two years. Those were only jumped once a year on "round canopy" days, once a year.
ripcord4 0 #7 January 20, 2010 I pack 50 or so round mains and reserves per year for my jump team...mostly MC-1's, SET-10's and T10 reserves.
faulknerwn 38 #8 January 20, 2010 I'm not the rigger at my dz, but we probably do 30-40 pilot rigs with rounds in them a year. No idea when the last non-pilot-rig round was though!
SStewart 13 #9 January 20, 2010 I haven't had anyone ask in years but I would not turn one down.Onward and Upward!
indyz 1 #10 January 20, 2010 I picked "What the hell is a round canopy?" because it fit best, but it isn't really accurate. I can pack a round, but I don't have the room at home and demand is so low that I never even bothered to buy the tools.
Bertt 0 #11 January 21, 2010 A couple of rounds per year in pilot emergency rigs. I wasn't sure which choice to pick, so you can add this reply where you think it fits. You don't have to outrun the bear.
riggerrob 643 #12 January 21, 2010 I pack about 200 square reserves per year, but only a handful of rounds (less than 40 per year) into pilot emergency parachutes. Since my DZO banned round reserves - a few years ago - I rarely see round reserves. If it weren't for PEPs, the DZO would have removed the long table years ago. I warned him that the day I lose access to the long table is the last day I pack round canopies, because I am too old and too grouchy to pack rounds on the floor. I mentioned this in another thread recently - One of the riggers in this area (Northeast Wisconsin, near Green Bay and Oshkosh) does more pilot bailout rounds than sport squares."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." AndyMan 7 #17 January 24, 2010 I was trained on rounds, and have the tools to do them - but I've never been asked to do one. Being trained on them was a waste of time. I would prefer pilot rigs be be a different type rating than sport rigs. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
Beatnik 2 #18 January 25, 2010 I pack a lot of rounds every year. Actually, I pack more rounds than squares. That is in sport rigs and pilot rigs.
riggerrob 643 #19 January 25, 2010 Remember that FAA Tyoe Standard Orders and rigger training standards were originally written for pilot emergency parachutes. Skydivers just clutter up the FAA's rule books. We might be wiser to follow the European example of keeping PEPs under TSOs, etc. and government ignoring skydiving equipment. CSPA insists that riggers be signed off on all other types (round, square, 1-pin sport, etc.) before being tested on packing PEPs.
