Plummet 0 #1 August 7, 2004 I am flying a flag into a demo at an airshow tomorrow. I would like the announcer to say something close to: "Jeff. Dawson is flying the flag today in honor of his son, SPC Joshua Dawson who is serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq." Is this cool? I'm more interested in military decorum or proper phrasing than in any political aspect to the thing. Any advice?-Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common. For the announcer copy~ You, the jumper are of the least importance in the opening flag procedure...not saying that you don't take recognition, but prioritize the copy. Begin by saying something about the flag, followed by the dedication and finally jumper credit. For example: The U.S. Flag, the honored standard of our great nation... It is being flown this afternoon in recognition of the brave men and women of the military services both present and past. .. Including, SPC Josh Dawson U.S. Army, currently serving in Iraq... ...his father Jeff is honored to fly the flag here today...blah blah blah... you get the point, gets the message across in a non self promotion way. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
 captain1 0 #7 August 7, 2004 Very good but make sure you get it right. My brother has been an officer in special ops going on 20 yrs now... but if you called him a marine he would probably be insulted.
