LiveStrong

Recommended Posts

Have any of you started wearing or have seen the yellow wrist bands for Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong campaign? My daughter bought one at the Nike Factory store a few weeks ago and has worn it every day, and my son bought a t-shirt with LiveStrong written on it.

In today's paper, there's a little article that says all the cool kids are wearing them now including Bush, Kerry and some Hollywood stars. FYI if you are interested in getting one for $1, it supports programs for young people with cancer. Nike donated the first $1 million and so far 7 million wristbands have been sold. Cool!

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and wear it daily. Minus all the Hollywood buzz, I liked the idea. It's also kind of cool to be able to look at my wrist and find a bit of motivation to make it through another tough moment when I'm having a tough day.

I seen a bunch of folks at the DZ satruday with them. A new Fad???? Personally I think it is a great Idea. If I happen to get one I don't think I will wear it as everyone seems to be sporting them but when I get the chance to give up a buck I will just because it goes to a good cause.

Sound's like Nike's cleaning up on this. So they've make $6,999,999 so far?

My roommate, who is an avid biker (even more so than me!), bought the livestrong bracelets for, well, everyone. I wear mine every day. Honestly, I'm so out of touch with current events, I had no idea that it was becoming so popular. I'm glad to hear it, though!

I like it because it's for a good cause. I like it because Lance Armstrong is one of the most amazing athletes I've ever seen. I admire him. And I wear it because it reminds me that I'm not the only one who struggles and it keeps me pushing through all the hard stuff I encounter. And even if I never have to face overwhelming medical problems or the last climb of a 100 mile ride in the tour de france, I am reminded that small victories can be just as great as larger ones.

One Livestrong bracelet by itself is nothing. But, one Livestrong bracelet on every one of your friends wrists (and their friends..and their friends...) adds up to one hell of a fight against cancer.

Oops...that should read $1 million. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm drugged out on allergy medicine right now. :$

This page has the store locator on it. I put in my zip code only and a bunch of stores came up with phone numbers listed. You can call your local stores to see if they still have them in stock.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a report on the NBC Nightly News that scalpers on Ebay were doing a brisk trade in these, selling them for $5 a pop to people who didn't want to wait for backorders to be filled. I'm sure a lot of that $5 made it to the foundation. :(

If any one is living strong, it's Lance Armstrong. That guy was just unbelievable in this year's Tour de France. He would be amazing even if he hadn't beat cancer... but to go through all he has and be TdF champion 6 times in a row... inspiring.

I ride my fat-tire Walmart bike much more often now. :)
Thanks, Andrea, for the information! It so nice to hear that kids are finding the livestrong bracets to be cool.
