Viking 0 #1 July 25, 2004 Hehehehe yep Liz and I drove over to Rantoul and help setup some stuff. I helped put fence in between tent city and the spectator area, and around the chopper loading area. Its gonna be really odd going back when all the tents and stuff are set up. We also went and roamed around a very creepy abandoned building that still had all the stuff inside it even though it was left several years ago. Stuff like a medical exam room that had bloody gloves on the floor, wax paper still on the exam tables and kneedles and stuff in the biohazard can. the kitchen still had the very big and expensive ovens and mixers and shit in it. the office still have paper work on the desk and in the file cabnets. the lower lvl had these 100 yrd long hallways and all those doors had mag locks on them and camera in steel bullet proof cages. There were also two solitary cells with the prison style sink/shitter and thats it. very creepy stuff. But very fun to roam around and explore. anyways just letting yall know that i'm doing ok and having fun out here in IL See ya at freefall!!!!!!!I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
freeflir29 0 #2 July 25, 2004 Ahhhh.....you got to roam around my old stomping grounds. I was stationed in Rantoul in '91. Just for 2 months but I had some of the best times of my life there. I was 19 and in a college town!!!! Funny that I am continuing the tradition with the WFFC!!!

WFFC 1 #4 July 25, 2004 QuoteIts gonna be really odd going back when all the tents and stuff are set up. Try going out there when there is nothing there but the remnants of the beaten down grass from all of the golf carts and other modes of transport. That's the odd visit... ----- ~~~Michael

mojosme 0 #6 July 25, 2004 Yeah, I was there a bit early myself. Slept at the F anmarker Inn even. The catch is that we were working 18 hour days putting the power lines back up that the thunderstorms blew down. Anyone living in central IL probably saw the Ameren trucks shuffling around everywhere. On the bright side, the overtime from that storm is gonna pay for this years WFFC. Can't wait! flyangel2 2 #7 July 25, 2004 I find myself in tears on the last Sunday at WFFC Just watching all the tents going down, and seeing the empty fields where tent city had once been.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey

I did that last year...but the C130 and the Cajones trailer was still sitting out there at the time. I was odd walking across the field and finding no garbage but able to see all the grass trying to recover. What a stark comparision to the days before that._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
