DWher 0 #1 August 1, 2004 Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the folks from skydive aggieland. A great dropzone, with great staff, owners, jumpers, packers. Not much was written about the role they played in the bush 80th birthday jumps, and I think they should be recognized. The cover shot in Parachutist was not over college station, TX as written, but over skydive aggieland. They spent a great deal of time helping us with everything, to include local spotting conditions, excellent packing, advice with our ever present digital camera problems, and just making us feel at home. The majority of our time and jumps were spent at aggieland in preparation for the birthday celebration, and we couldnt have asked for a better dropzone. The golden knights tandem team, and gold demonstration team would like to thank skydive aggieland for their great hospitality, professionalism, and advice during 41@80. Take the time to check out this great dropzone. We hope to be back soon.... US Army Parachute Team Golden Knights Tandem Section
AggieDave 6 #2 August 1, 2004 Wow! Thank you so much for saying those things, I do have to say I was disappointed that we weren't mentioned in the artical since I thought we did do a lot to help (I know my fiance Morgan packed her ass off for the GKs). I do have to say, I really really appreciate you posting about it! Oh, I do want to say, the GKs were some cool folks, definately a lot of fun to have at our DZ! Thankful for the good packing the GKs went out of their way to make sure the packers knew it. That's a class act! Well, I guess we'll see you again when Bush turns 90. (Hopefully much sooner!)--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

It was a priveledge and an honor. I, for one, felt like I was a part of something, very much, bigger than anything experianced so far in the realm of skydiving. Heh, as is not very commmon, at least on theses forums - i am at a loss for words. again, Thank you.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
tspillers 0 #5 August 2, 2004 Thank you, Dave. You are right, we did not even get a decent metnion on local news. We have still been busy ever since. We weren't helping to get publicity. The way I saw it, this was great for our sport. I know 41 really wanted to do AFF, but I think it helped our sport more that he did a tandem. USPA mentions a drop zone. I wish there would have been more national coverage talking about him making a jump at a DZ rather than at his library party special event. Everyone I have talked to says they are busy since the jump, so it still helped everyone despite the inaccurate reporting. I am glad you had a great stay here. Maybe next time you are down this way you won't have as much of a schedule to keep up with. Todd I am not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example.
