If buying new, get the Jeep with the hard top then buy the soft top aftermarket. When I bought mine the cost of the hard top option and buying an aftermarket soft top was WAY less than buying the Jeep with the soft top and getting the hard top aftermarket. (make sense?) The true essence of the Jeep is jammin' down the road (or offroad) with the top down and the doors off. But during the winter when your essence is getting frostbitten you'll be glad to have the hardtop. If it is your everyday car, and you think you may get sick of noise, getting wet, lack of security or whatever, get the hard top. Or, and I think this is cool, get one of those hardtops that front section can be removed. Those are cool. This can be over come by a steel box bolted to the floor, with access to the bolts on the inside of the box. It take like 5 minutes to take t5he bolts and box out when you need the space and 10 minutes or less to put it back in. I've seen a few done out like this and they work great. The down side is you loose the area where the box is in the back for seating people. dustin19d 0 #12 July 31, 2004 Ah you still up at this hour... I haven't read the rest of the tread but I'd say soft top if you live in an area thats free of a lot of theft. It sucks having side windows you can't see out of clearly in the winter but its definately a plus having the option of rolling the top off Quickly in the summer. AirMail 0 #14 July 31, 2004 I have had both. I prefer the soft top because of the difficulty in removing the hard top. One person can not do it unless you have some kind of hoist. I have only a soft top now and live in Buffalo. No problem with the heater even on the coldest days. P--- It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
