Jib 0 #2 July 31, 2004 Security -- hardtop Storage -- soft top Summer -- neither: Bikini top and take the plugs out! Hard top = full doors too I had a soft top in the snow and the heater took care of it just fine. I drown a few times with only the bikini top though. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. skydiver30960 0 #3 July 31, 2004 Both. I had a '97 and never got the hardtop but always wished I had it during the winter. If buying new, get the Jeep with the hard top then buy the soft top aftermarket. When I bought mine the cost of the hard top option and buying an aftermarket soft top was WAY less than buying the Jeep with the soft top and getting the hard top aftermarket. (make sense?) The true essence of the Jeep is jammin' down the road (or offroad) with the top down and the doors off. But during the winter when your essence is getting frostbitten you'll be glad to have the hardtop. FallinWoman 1 #4 July 31, 2004 soft top for the true jeep experience...the heater is more then enough in the winter... the only annoying thing is that you can't lock anything in your car...like your rig or purchases during a day of shopping..... ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! pleifer 0 #5 July 31, 2004 hard top deffinatly, cause to get a soft top is alot cheaper later, however! get the half doors, the full doors have to be taken off for the true jeep experiance, what am i getting at? the full doors are a pain in the ass _________________________________________ The Angel of Duh has spoke
cloudseeker2001 0 #6 July 31, 2004 If you want an outdoor jeep for fun and you do not mind the elements, get a soft top and a bikini top for it. If it is your everyday car, and you think you may get sick of noise, getting wet, lack of security or whatever, get the hard top. Or, and I think this is cool, get one of those hardtops that front section can be removed. Those are cool. This can be over come by a steel box bolted to the floor, with access to the bolts on the inside of the box. It take like 5 minutes to take t5he bolts and box out when you need the space and 10 minutes or less to put it back in. I've seen a few done out like this and they work great. The down side is you loose the area where the box is in the back for seating people. WrongWay 0 #8 July 31, 2004 Trust me, you want the hard top. I had a dual top on mine (you could use both) and it was broken into TWICE, both times with the soft top on. On a side note, both times the dumbasses cut the soft top as opposed to unzipping it. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. lemonjelly 0 #9 July 31, 2004 I've got a convertible, only use the soft top. golden rule is.. leave the doors unlocked at all times. Don't leave anything valuable in there.************************************************* RED LIGHTS & OFF LANDINGS ARE JUST MY THANG http://www.redlightrob.co.uk

froglady 0 #11 July 31, 2004 Thanks for all the input. I've always wanted a jeep and I've been torn between which top, this helps a lot. I think I'll need all 3 tops .
dustin19d 0 #12 July 31, 2004 Ah you still up at this hour... I haven't read the rest of the tread but I'd say soft top if you live in an area thats free of a lot of theft. It sucks having side windows you can't see out of clearly in the winter but its definately a plus having the option of rolling the top off Quickly in the summer. froglady 0 #13 July 31, 2004 I'm on the east coast at work, cloudy so I'm not missing much jumping today. I used to own a 71 Blazer with a soft top, loved that truck and really miss driving around without a top.
AirMail 0 #14 July 31, 2004 I have had both. I prefer the soft top because of the difficulty in removing the hard top. One person can not do it unless you have some kind of hoist. I have only a soft top now and live in Buffalo. No problem with the heater even on the coldest days. P--- It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
