WFFC 1 #1 July 26, 2004 It seems one of the senior staffers has inadvertently revealed (well, they put it on the message board) that the Pac750XL will make a run in Rantoul...All 10 days I believe...I'll get the details on Monday and update accordingly...----- ~~~Michael

cvfd1399 0 #6 July 26, 2004 Keep us posted on how close someone gets to getting a hair cut from that horizontal stabilizer. I have heard rumors about how low it is compared to how close it is to the door. It seems fine unless there is gross c.g. change, pilot movement, or just the right kind of exit. freeflir29 0 #7 July 26, 2004 QuoteKeep us posted on how close someone gets to getting a hair cut from that horizontal stabilizer. Yeah.......for a plane that was supposedly purpose built for skydiving......I think someone goofed.
WFFC 1 #8 July 26, 2004 Yeah, this was discussed in another thread as a non issue as I recall. On jumprun, the plane flies tail high raising the horizontal stab out of the way.----- ~~~Michael
PhreeZone 20 #9 July 26, 2004 Have you jumped a King Air yet? The Tail is lower on that plane then on the PAC750. Hell, A Beech 18 is WAY worse then both those and its damn hard to hit the tail of one of those.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Layton 0 #10 July 26, 2004 i have hit the tail of a beech 18.the people that were at the boogie tried to tell me that i didnt hit it but i know that i did.had a video guy say that he went over the tail of the same beech they tried to tell him the same thing.i had no hide from above the ankle to half way down the front of my foot.some people tried to tell me that i hit the door on the way out.that i jumped and the forward movement of the plane is what caused it all.i hit the tail i know i did. Hell, A Beech 18 is WAY worse then both those and its damn hard to hit the tail of one of those. Regarding the King Air: Not hard at all if the pilot goofs and doesn't put a/c in proper attitude on jump run. Most likely to happen on low hop-n-pops when rest of load is going all the way up. I know one guy who left wrist prints in the tail, and another who left a head-print. I personally witnessed a small girl do a poised AFF-style exit in which she hopped upward, resulting in her head missing the tail by maybe 4 inches. (And this was with the a/c in proper attitude.)"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. PhreeZone 20 #12 July 26, 2004 Unless you came out upside down I dont see a way for the front of your foot to hit the tail. You would to had to go up and over the entire stabilizer and catch the edge as you left. I've done the same damage to my legs and its from catching the door frame as I dove from a few feet back in the plane and the plane jumping up from the loss of weight.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
happythoughts 0 #13 July 26, 2004 I have friends who have taken some paint off a King Air with their head. It can certainly be done. Ouch.
PhreeZone 20 #14 July 26, 2004 Agreed that the King air can be done, but if the tail is higher on the PAC its less likely to be an issue is all I'm saying. I've seen someone just about hit an Otter tail Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

PhreeZone 20 #16 July 26, 2004 Nope. Hop and pop with no cut while the plane was climbing and they leaped straight up. Missed the tail by less then a foot. Anything other then a T tail or Tailgate I think it could be done on Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
ChasingBlueSky 0 #17 July 26, 2004 There are rumors of TMs that have hit an Otters tail with the drougue on a few occasions. Someone that tried taking a raft out of an otter at a boogie hit the tail as well._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... cvfd1399 0 #22 July 26, 2004 Ok. What about the distance from the door to the stab.? If it is closer that gives you less time to fall under it. If it is longer that gives you fractions more time to fall under it.
PhreeZone 20 #23 July 26, 2004 Its longer and Higher. If you are willing to jump a Caravan the PAC is very close to the same measurements. Eye balling it I think a C206U is much closer then the PAC.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
EricaH 0 #24 July 26, 2004 I jumped a Cresco in Australia. I believe the PAC is designed after the Cresco & if so - this plane ROCKS!! I only had bout 60 jumps at the time, but climbed out in front float position & there as so little prop blast, you could almost stay on the foot holder w/o holding on w/ your hands - great fun. And the door slid shut/open automatically, and it was VERY quick to altitude and, and and - I always love a new jumpship! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)
