Dealing with incidents

Recommended Posts

Incidents put you in check. for me it's like your running, never looking backor around, so caught up in the moment... AND THEN BAM!!!! REALITY!!!

It really makes you think twice about what your doing up there. so you have to pay attention to those signs, and sharpen your skills and move on.

I have seen 2 this year. Yes they shook me up a bit. One was a person who had a big part in me getting involved in skydiving. I think it reminds you to be careful. Skydiving has lots to give to us. It can also take away alot.

Just make sure that when you jump, your headis really into it.

The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Incidents can and will happen, it's a part of the life that you've chosen by becoming a skydiver. I've seen a few in the past year or so, some serious and others where the person involved got away with a cheap lesson. They shook me up but at the same time reminded me to know my own limits and to be a sponge. Information is power and can make you a better and safer skydiver. Listen to advice, ask questions and try to learn everything you can.

I watched someone femur in while BASE jumping at the popular and legal span in Idaho a couple of months ago (as well as witnessing several other accidents which resulted in hospital trips on the same day) and it served as a real wake up call as to the dangers of jumping (BASE and skydiving). But it won't stop me from wanting to jump. It just servered as a wake up call that people can and will get hurt and/or killed doing things we like to do.

If you haven't accepted your mortality and haven't let your loved ones know about the true dangers, then you shouldn't be jumping. I'm not directing this comment at you specifically, it's more of a generic comment for all of us. ;)

Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

what he said...

evryone (no matter if its BASE or skydive)should know what can happen, its the price we pay to be allowed to do as we do.

It dosnt mean its fun to see or try,but you should rember that as soon as you step over the edge you has desided to take the risk involved whith that action,so does your freinds...

How to deal whith it...hmm if you like the sport enough you will always rember the incedents but also acsept them as a part of the game...

Stay safe
