Slappie 9 #1 July 23, 2004 My Fatcat lost his fight with Feline Diabetes this morning. He went to sleep this morning an wont be waking I'm not as good with words as some are. He was my best friend. Went thru 2 girlfriends (1 I still have) was always there for me. Would greet me at the door to tell me about his day. He was always by my side when I was at home.... even help me when I was in the "library" would come rub my feet and purr. I will miss him terribly, he was my buddy. Would talk to me when no one else would. Fatcat is waiting at the bridge for me with all his buddies. He's now free of all the needles and yucky (I know I tasted it) cat food. <> Fatcat "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." CanuckInUSA 0 #4 July 23, 2004 I'm sorry to hear about Fatcat. I have a 14 year old fat cat myself (her name is Scratchy) and while she appears to be in decent health, I'm sure I will be where you are today in the future. Blue Skies Fatty ... Slappie 9 #5 July 23, 2004 Please everyone if you see any change in your cat take them into the vet. First sign of Feline Diabetes is frequent use of the litter box and lots of drinking. Fatcat didn't get dx'd till 4 month after he started this because I thought it was his diet change. mailin 0 #6 July 23, 2004 Oh Slappie I'm so sorry to hear about Fatcat. I completely understand what its like to lose your feline friends. It scars and changes you. I have a 14 year old cat who is the center of my world, losing her would just about kill me Be sure to take some time over the next few days to talk about him and all the great things you remember - it really helps. Remember he's in a better place now, and waiting patiently for you to arrive (just not too soon ok?). Keeping you in my good thoughts today. Slappie 9 #7 July 23, 2004 This is shamelessly stolen and I've thanked the person who posted it on the Tippy thread Quote Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... It has really given me a smile "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Yes Slappie's grief has me a little troubled today as many of the things he mentioned about Fatcat also apply to my critter Scratchy. I would love to have a dog as they are way more interactive than cats, but I'm not home enough to warrant having one. So instead I have a cat (my loyal subject these last 14 years) and it grieves me thinking that one day I too will lose my friend.
