AggieDave 6 #61 July 22, 2004 Hell, I'm a freak'n redneck and I love sushi, which is odd I guess since I don't like sea food... Infact, I think I'm going to go today, the local Sushi place has some good lunch deals... Strangely enough, the local HEB (supermarket) has fresh handrolled sushi for sell at their sea food counter. Whats even cooler is...its pretty damned good!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Hell...me and a couple guys from work went to the best sushi place in the city one night, with the top chef. Sat down and told him to suprise us and keep it coming. Best meal I've ever had and will remember it the rest of my life. We spent about $160 a piece, before tip.!!!
jerm 0 #63 July 22, 2004 Quote hmm...how far is the nearest sushi place from here.... well.. if you're HERE, it's about 3 blocks away, and that's a pretty decent place. IF you can manage another 2 blocks, there's a really good place. Gotta love new paltz. when did you say you were coming to visit? kelel01 1 #66 July 22, 2004 Damn this thread! Last night on the way home, I stopped at a sushi bar and decided to get a little more creative than my usual California rolls. I got some Unagi (yum!), some spicy tuna rolls (which I didn't even eat because they looked too disgusting ), and some other kind of eel thing (yum again!). All in all a good experience, but now I want more! Kelly
PhillyKev 0 #67 July 22, 2004 California rolls are the grilled cheese of the sushi world. You have to experiment to get the really good stuff. Love Unagi! One note about spicy tuna. The reason they make spicy tuna rolls is to use up the not as fresh tuna by masking the flavor with the spicy sauce. I still like them though. But if you want some REALLY good tuna, try super toro. It's pricey but worth it.
kelel01 1 #68 July 22, 2004 QuoteCalifornia rolls are the grilled cheese of the sushi world. Yeah, that I've known, and I was a little embarrassed when I ate it. Quotetry super toro Ok, I'll file that in my memory. Thanks! There's actually a really good (reputed, that is, never been there myself) sushi bar 5 minutes from my office, so I might just go for lunch!
