No, I'm not leaving for vacation.

Is anyone here from Hawaii, went to school in Hawaii, or worked/lived there for any period of time?

I'm looking at schools there and I'm wondering about general living costs like apartments and stuff like that. Anyone who might have gone to college at or around U of H, how did you like/dislike the area?

Any info would be great. Thanks!

Don't know where you are lcoated now, but the cost of living is more than San Diego! Cost of gas is higher than that of San Diego by about 3-6 cents/gallon. Groceries on the market are expensive. I used to spend $75/week for food for 2. Now it's double that. Renting is also expensive in 2 ways - you pay more and you get less for your money.

Just to give you an idea, we have a 1920's house downtown-ish. 2br 1ba and we pay $1300 (which is cheap). Apartments run the same or more.

If you are a military dependent you'll be better off cost wise, as you can get your gas, groceries and beer on base.
