mattjw916 2 #7 July 16, 2004 haha... they should make her read books on ethics and integrity while she is in the big house... I hope they don't let her skate by and go home during the appeals process. I say lock her up immediately!!! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

DShiznit 0 #9 July 16, 2004 I don't think she should have served any time at all... I think they should have imposed a VERY hefty fine. Show her that the few mil she didn't lose wound up costing her half. just my .02 though.

LuvToFly 0 #11 July 16, 2004 Whoa! And only a $30,000 fine??? Glad it was not a DZ.commer on trial for those crimes. They'd double the sentence, and up the fine, with the judge's written opinion on the case making some vague reference to, well, here's an extract: "and furthmore, being that these "skydivers" as they call themselves, are not of sound mind, they should get their ARS kicked anyway. As responsible citizens, it's the least we can do to stem the blatent disregard for the laws of nature, and to keep the tide of these meat-missiles in check." pleifer 0 #12 July 16, 2004 I can't believe that i am defending ms but it was not millions that she did not loose, it was actually about $40,000 was the total amount of the sale. It was not the sale of the stock they were getting her on, it was that she lied about the sale of the stock. my question is how much time should you get for lying when not under oath? and what the artical said was five months of house arrest, not even prison, (dunno why that was the title) anyway i think they should have hung her, the world would be a better place. ha ha _________________________________________ The Angel of Duh has spoke
Guest #13 July 16, 2004 It looks like she'll be serving it under house arrest. It was all for naught, anyway... "Stewart and Bacanovic always maintained she sold because of a preset plan to unload the stock when it fell to $60. ImClone now trades around $80." mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

dbattman 0 #15 July 16, 2004 Does anyone know the actual 'obstruction of justice' acts that she was charged with? I could understand her being somewhat less than cooperative- I don't like being pushed around either.
Keith 0 #16 July 16, 2004 Yep, she's been convicted of loosing money on the stock market and lying about it This should have never been an issue in the first place.Keith Don't Fuck with me Keith - J. Mandeville

Show her that the few mil she didn't lose wound up costing her half. just my .02 though. The thing is, that's what she would have had to do if she would have owned up to it. The reason for the jail sentence is because she lied about it during the investigation.
chuckbrown 0 #19 July 16, 2004 QuoteDoes anyone know the actual 'obstruction of justice' acts that she was charged with? I could understand her being somewhat less than cooperative- I don't like being pushed around either. I believe the obstruction of justice was based on her trying to get witnesses to corroborate her version of events. The big issue was that she denied a phone call with her broker to sell after the FDA denial came out, instead claiming that she had a pre-existing stop loss order to sell when the shares reached a certain price. She's real lucky on the sentence though. The federal guidelines called for 10-16 months in jail.
happythoughts 0 #20 July 16, 2004 There an old expression about politics, "It's never the crime, it's always the coverup that gets them." Before she got into the catering business, she was a stockbroker. She also had a seat on the board of the NYSE. She knew the rules.
