Shell666 0 #1 July 12, 2004 You think your weather is bad ... here's the aftermath of a rain/hail storm that hit Edmonton yesterday afternoon. Dropped about 150mm of rain in about 2 hours. This is the Whitemud Freeway, a main artery that connects the north west end of the city to the south east end. 'Shell'Shell

Shell666 0 #6 July 12, 2004 QuoteSon of a mule....that's some wild stuff. Sorry to see it...hope there weren't any casualties. As far as I know, the only casualty was the roof on West Edmonton Mall ... apparently tens of millions of $$ in damage there. Lots of flooding elsewhere in the city too. We were lucky -- we only caught the edge of it and the hail was only pea sized. Apparently elsewhere, it was golf ball size.'Shell

We get thunderstorms and hail but not normally that much all at once. The storm sewers just couldn't handle it.'Shell
skymut 0 #8 July 12, 2004 Glad to hear it...buildings can be fixed, things can be repaired/replaced...friend's and family can't. We have a saying here, 'if you don't like the weather in texas, wait a minute.' I've never seen anything like that. Be safe. We have a saying very much like that ... if you don't like the weather in Alberta, wait 10 minutes. We've had snow in every month EXCEPT July ... and there was one year that we had 89 days between snowfalls (it snowed in May and again in August - 1997 I think).'Shell
