Can you pass?

Recommended Posts

I am foreign-born and I have taken the real test (and passed) B|

When you take the real thing they don't give you multiple choice answers, you have to know it. However, there is a list of 100 or so questions that come on the test so you can study that to prepare .

There are many questions there that hardly any american is able to answer (for example: who wrote the national anthem, how many members the congress has... ). There is a general consensus among the test-takers that the test doesn't make much sense.

Citizenship Test

I only got 5 out of 11 [:/]

100%.

But then I did actually have to learn this stuff in order to become a citizen.

At my interview/test, the INS clerk asked me "who said 'give me liberty or give me death'"?

I replied "you just did", at which point my attorney favored me with a "don't fuck about" look, so I dutifully then answered "Patrick Henry" and so was not immediately deported.

there are 535 members of congress.

Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the national anthem during the war of 1812 (not the revolutionary war!) as he watched the attack on Fort McHenry. He called his poem "Defense of Fort M'Henry" and it was eventually set, ironically, to the tune of a British drinking song, Anacreon in Heaven.

hehe. I didn't even have to google those. Got any more?

WOW ! Congratulations :)
I have no idea who wrote the anthem of my original country or how many members of the parliament are there, and I lived there like 30 years.
